Obtaining Credits - I
• Each teaching activity in the ERE curriculum is classified by name and type
(mandatory or elective – normal class or laboratory) and number of Credits
• In normal classes, there is a final exam
• You have at least 6 chances each year to pass the exam
• Each professor defines the rules for passing and the type of exam (some
professors may ask you to take tests, or complete homework, or develop reports
during the class)
• Each professor defines the dates of the exams
• In normal classes, you obtain a grade between 18 and 30 (honors are
possible) if you pass
• In laboratory classes, you usually obtain a pass / fail grade
• The successful grades are averaged over credits. Only successful grades
are considered in CGPA Cumulative Grade Point Average
CGPA = Σ (Grade * Credits)each exam / Σ Credits of all the exams
• CGPA defines the grade of your final graduation and it is used to rank
students when applying for grants!
Obtaining Credits - II
For the final examination you can complete a research project:
- at our Department DICAM
- at a partner university in Europe (see Erasmus+, double degrees, etc.)
- - in a company in Italy or abroad

The University of Bologna is the 1st in Europe for number of

• Erasmus mobility may be for a semester of lessons or for the graduation
thesis project only
