PROBLEM DEFINITIONThe demand formeat is growing every year,while the requirements for quality and foodsafety are constantly rising as well. With thelivestockindustrycontinuouslyevolving,farmsface the challenge of constantly making pro-duction more efficient, effective and sustain-able. Thecareandmanagementof individualanimals as well as the management of theirproductivityarebecomingmoreandmorede-manding.
SOLUTIONA tracking system helps livestock producersovercome the challenges of scale increas-es while ensuring their animals’ well-being.Instead of relying solely on farmers‘ sensesand knowledge, on-site tracking sensors canprovide reliable data about the location andphysicalconditionoftheanimals.Whetherthefarmer is concerned with automatic feeding,sortingandseparating,orweighing–alloftheinformationneededformanagingtheanimals
individuallyisavailableinrealtime.
Thesolutionsupportsoptimallivestockperfor-mancebyprovidingtheexactamountoffeedforeachanimalbasedonitsbodyweightandactivitylevel.Implementingthissystemenableshavingthecontroltohelptheanimalsmaintainoptimalbodycondition.Incasesofanomalousdevelopment (e. g. loss ofweight, decreasingactivitylevel),affectedanimalscanbeisolatedinordertobetreatedandfeededindividually.Quarantininganimalsthathavebeenincontactwithsickanimalshelpstominimizethecasesofillnessandmedicationexpenses.
TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATIONEachanimalisequippedwithaBLEbeaconintheformofanearchip,forexample.Through-out the stable, infsoft Locator Nodes are in-stalled. The Locator Nodes receive the bea-con’ssignalsandtransmit themto the infsoft LocAware platform®. Here, the data is pro-cessed and the positions of the animals areprovidedviawebservices.Farmersgetaccesstothedataviaapporbrowserapplicationandseethelocationoftheanimalsincludingcondi-tioninformation(e.g.weight,activitylevel)onamap.
Individuallycustomizablereportsallowaquickassessment of the farm‘s productivity. Via infsoft‘s Analytics Engine, historical data canbe retrieved, evaluated and compared with real-timedataatanytime.
