Informer....…October 2012

Manager’s Report:

As of October 4th we had 57 coaches in the resort with 36 being occupied. According to our reservation system (based on the information we have received from owners and renters) we should have 85 coaches in by October 31st. Some of those showing unoccupied now will be occupied by the end of the month.

It seems more are returning earlier each year and that’s fantastic. The resort is ready for you!

We should be utilizing a card swipe system in the very near future. Linda Hunter has made great progress with the bar code system that we already had but never used to its fullest capacity. Residents will need to use this card for each house charge purchase.

The River Clubhouse floor has been revitalized! The new product used has really given it a facelift. Housekeeping has done a fantastic job applying the new product and using the new buffing machine.

The coach houses are being cleaned now and the ones that have been cleaned look good.

Dakota has begun mulching the berm. The mulch is also here for purchase by residents at $2.00 per bag.

Dakota has also finished the treatment to the Royal palms throughout the resort.

Paco and Team are in the process of cleaning the cupola at the Welcome Center. They should have all the cupolas done by the end of the week.

The tally from the cable TV survey is: 64 Analog; 29 HDTV; 7 satellite only. The analog equipment should be installed soon. Channel 95 has been changed to Channel 195.

The geothermal system at the pool is working great. No reports of the air conditioner not working!

The algae in the lakes were treated again on October 5th and should once again begin to dissipate.

Once again, safe travels as you begin to “work your way” back to RiverBend.

Millard Stephens, CAM General Manager

Informing You About:

Vendors At RiverBend:

There has been some confusion regarding Dazzling Detail being banned from the resort. Dazzling Detail is not banned from RiverBend. They have been a vendor for many years and the confusion stems from the unfortunate incident back in March. Greg and Jason are available for detailing as well as Mobile Wash or any vendor a resident should choose.

The August and September Issue of this newsletter have included the following statement:

“It is understood that a resident can contract anyone they choose; however any issues between a resident and a vendor of their choice are between the resident and the vendor.

Each resident should make sure that whoever you hire shows proof of insurance for your own protection.

Any vendor RiverBend contracts must have valid liability insurance and name RiverBend as an additional insured.

We, RiverBend, will be held harmless for any work that they authorize any vendor to perform on their property.”

Next Board Meeting:

The next Board meeting is scheduled

for Tuesday, October 30th, 9:00 am EDT at the Welcome Center. GoToMeeting will be used for this meeting even though most Board Members should be present. An email will be sent to owners when the minutes have been posted to the website. Instructions for requesting to attend the meeting via GoToMeeting follow.

To join a Board Meeting: You need an invitation. Contact a Board member, preferably by email They will forward your request to Lee. She will then send an invitation directly to you with instructions and a link for you to join the meeting. We suggest you make this request well in advance of the meeting as we cannot troubleshoot any issues during the meeting.

Owners’ microphones will be muted but there is a chat feature for questions. We would either answer the question or remove the mute for your comments as the situation warranted.

Invitations are limited and will be honored on a first request basis. Lee will not issue an invitation without the direction of a Board Member.

“Off Season” Volunteer:

Mark Sweeney, Lot 182 is operating RiverBend’s Street Sweeper complete with his very own umbrella. Mark got back to RiverBend and within a few days, he was hard at work! Thanks Mark.

Florida Fresh Cargo: On September 19, the River Clubhouse was the setting for a meeting for Florida Fresh Cargo, Inc.

Approximately 60 people were bused from Miami to hear Frederick Ford from Florida Fresh Cargo present plans to develop and operate a major international air cargo

airport in Hendry County. The plan is to convert its centrally located Airglades Airport into a major cargo hub.

Linda received a call only a few days before the event. Since this was a community project she and Houskeeping pulled off this event with a beautiful room complete with tablecloths! Cracker Cookin’ did the Prime Rib lunch and Wally and Joanne Bowman bused tables. Our dishwashers jumped in on a short notice and all went smoothly. All were very impressed with our facility and hospitality.

We’ll just have to “wait and see” if the business does come to our area.

LaBelle's Heritage Museum:

The museum is open from 9 o'clock in the morning until noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays and also on Thursdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free for LHM members and children aged 6 and under. There is a $3 per person charge for all others.

3

Breakfast with the Breakfast Boys:

Don McCaulley has advised that weekly breakfast should begin November 3rd. Of course, this is contingent on there being enough of “the boys” back in the resort to make up the crew. So guys, hurry on back!

Hendry County City Farm Tour Dates:

The first tour is scheduled for 12/1/12. There will be February and March tours also. If you are interested in the December Tour, call Lee (863-843-5335) or email ([email protected]) before October 30th. If there are 20 or more interested in the December tour, Lee will organize the tour from here. We will advise the February and March dates as soon as they are available.

LaBelle Firehouse Theatre Tickets are Now Available On Line:

Our Box Office is staffed by volunteers and we are not able to be at the Box Office 24/7. The online service, Vendini will allow our patrons to purchase tickets in real time, anytime on our website! We will still accept phone orders and walk up orders. All tickets sold will be recorded in Vendini which will allow us to track our growth and provide accurate reporting. Last year, we ended our season with 78% of our seats being sold. That is a lot of work to be done manually and efficiently. Check this out now! Click here to

We would also love to have a few “jam sessions” for those who bring their instruments.

Important Enough to Repeat:

We’re Asking You To:

Submit Committee Forms:

As Dave mentioned in the President’s Comments Committees still have openings for volunteers. If you have misplaced your Committee Information Packet, contact Owner Services and Linda will email another.

Lot Number On Mail From Home:

As you begin to make your plans to return to RiverBend, your mail is an important item on your checklist. Be sure to include your Lot number as part of your mail forwarding information. We have many volunteers who do not know names and lot numbers. Your Lot number on your mail will expedite the sorting process.

From Richard Smith, Dakota Landscaping:

Attn: Riverbend Owners

The park is looking fabulous and we are looking forward to your return. Since we are on a pruning and weeding schedule, we would like to offer you the opportunity to let us know when you will be returning so that your lot will be in tip top shape. What we are trying to avoid is owners returning to their lots at the end of a cycle and perhaps not seeing the lot weeded and or pruned.

Feel free to email me directly at [email protected] or you can call at 239-677-9938. Safe travels.

Regards,

Richard Smith Dakota Landscaping and Design

Opportunities To Get Together:

RiverBend Cruise

February 2-10, 2013:

Website Update:

Jean Birdsall has been diligently working with Omnigraphix designing our new Website. It is very close to being implemented. Her target is early fall. If you have photographs of RiverBend you would like to share, please email them to Jean. We are especially interested in high quality photographs that would not need to be edited. If you have already given your photos to

Lee, they are being copied for Jean to use as needed.

Also, do you have writing and marketing skills from your “other life”? We could use your help in maintaining our Facebook and Website pages.

Contact Jean Birdsall at ([email protected]) or Lee Conwell at ([email protected])

Access to Owner Login Screen:

We urge you to log onto the website to view the minutes as well as financial information.

In your browser go to www.riverbendflorida.com. Click on the Owner tab and you will be taken to the Owner login option. Click on Login and you will go to the Login Page Here you will enter your username and password.

Since this is an area restricted to owners only, we feel detailed login information should not be emailed. If you do not know your login information, please contact Owner Services at 863-612-2094.

R2D2 Painting:

The Board is still recommending that each individual owner take the responsibility of getting their R2D2 painted. Contact Owner Services either by phone (863-612-2094) or by email to: [email protected] Should you choose to paint it once you arrive, check with Owner Services. They have a sample can in the office.
