M.Sc. IN GEOINFORMATICS AND REMOTE SENSINGM.Sc. IN GEOINFORMATICS AND REMOTE SENSING(POST GRADUATE DEGREE IN GEOINFORMATICS & REMOTE SENSING)

About the CourseAbout the Course

Geoinformatics and Remote Sensing are relativelyyoung scientific disciplines and are areas of emergingtechnologies which have witnessed phenomenalgrowth in the last two decades. In the recent past atremendous growth has been observed in the field ofGeoinformatics and Remote Sensing. Resulting thatgeosciences are now a days relying increasingly ondigital space data acquired from remotely sensedimages through satellites, analyzed by geographicalinformation systems (GIS) and viewed on the computerscreen or on paper. Geoinformatics is collaborationbetween computer science and the geosciences to solvecomplex scientific questions. Remote Sensing coupledwith Geographical Information System (GIS) andGlobal Positioning System (GPS) has increased thehuman capabilities for resourses exploration, mappingand monitoring on local and global scale. The course isnot only going to provide job opportunities for theyoung students but also shall open avenues of effectiveand viable interaction with national establishmentsrelated to various aspects of earth sciences and remotesensing.

The course is aimed at developing science graduates inthe field of Informatics of the Earth. The increasingapplications of Geoinformatics and Remote Sensinghave created a gap between the demand and supply oftrained man power in this field. It is well known that thejob opportunities for trained persons in the field ofGeoinformatics and Remote Sensing are available inorganizations like Space Application Centre (SAC),National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), IndianSpace Research Organization (ISRO) and a lots ofGovernment departments using the spatial data and itsanalysis. Besides huge employment opportunities arenow opening in the in private sectors like BPO/ITsegment. Geoinformatic professional can start his/hercareer as Project Manager, Sr. System Executive,System Analyst, Image Analyst, and GIS Programmerwith specialization in Earth Science. As anentrepreneur, after obtaining the professional degree acandidate can start their own enterprise.
