Even after 67 years of obtaining independence for our country, it is alarming to note from the 2011

census document that about 44.74% of the rural households do not have any electric supply. It is

the bounden duty of the Government and all the Citizens of this country to provide electricity to

the rural poor. In this direction MGIRED has initiated model electrification in very remote rural

habitats located in protected wildlife areas, where there is no scope for even laying electric lines.

To implement the programme successfully MGIRED requires funding from the general

public/corporate sectors under CSR scheme/International funding. Hence it is requested to

financially support generously to illuminate lives of those who stay in the last mile (remote

villages). Details of contributors will be prominently acknowledged in our journals, website, blog,

There is a lot to be done to provide safe and environment friendly basic amenities to all those households

without lighting, dependent on kerosene and firewood for lighting and cooking etc.

MGIRED within its limits is proactively taking small steps through its Remote Village Electrification

Programme and Smokeless Chulhas programme with the help of funding under Individual and Corporate

Social Responsibility.

The country's first bus to run on biogas will debut in Kolkata and ferry passengers on the 17.5 km route between Ultadanga and Garia that are 17 kms apart at a nominal fare of Rs.1/- irrespective of the distance covered. As many as 12 buses running on biogas will start plying on 12 routes in the city.

India's First Bio-Gas Bus

Solar PV panels are mounted on the roof of the bus.The power generated from the solar photovoltaic panels is used to power the gadgets inside the bus. Example: TV's, Laptops, Air Conditioners, etc.

Solar Buses: Workstation on Wheels

China to get vertical gardens in 2018 to help tackle pollution.A real vertical forest that will help to regenerate local biodiversity will provide 25 tons of CO 2

absorption each year and will produce about 60 kg of oxygen per day.

Vertical Gardens

stBengaluru gets its 1 vertical garden under flyover to curb pollution & it already has over 3,500 saplings of 10 different species.

Renewable sources of energy are the most efficient ecological way to produce energy, unlike the nuclear and other finite fossil resources, which will cause environmental pollution and will become extinct in due course of time, the solar energy is more than 200 times larger than finite fossil and nuclear resources combined, having the biggest energy potential.
