Diving Lessons• Diving lessons are available for children (5-12 yrs), teens (13-15 yrs)

and Adults (16+ yrs).

• Divers follow a scheduled programme of training over a 6 week period.

• There are 5 booking levels which cover recreational diving with progression through to the elite squad for talented divers.

Children must be able to swim at least 25m and be confident in very deepwater (4m) or have passed stage 4 on the new national plan for teachingswimming.

National Pool Life Guard Qualification Courses (NPLQ)Corby East Midlands International Pool is an approved training centre for thedelivery of NPLQ. Candidates must be 16 years of age or over and be able tocomplete the following

• jump/dive into deep water

• swim 50 metres in 60 seconds

• swim 100 metres continuously

• tread water for 30 seconds and surface dive to pool floor (4 metres).

SWIMMING LESSONSINFORMATION

Booking Procedure

Lessons continue all year round including half term and school holidays. The onlyexception is bank holidays and over the Christmas period.

• Children should arrive on poolside 5 minutes prior to their lesson

• Re-enrolments take place on the last two weeks of every course. It is important that you secure your place on these weeks as any vacancies are re-sold on week 12.

• Book on week 11 to stay on the same day.

• Bookings can be made over the telephone using a Debit/Credit Card or at reception.

• You will need your child’s loyalty card and enrolment card when re-booking.

• Booking dates will be displayed on the notice board in the changing rooms, on the plasma screens and at reception.

Refunds/Credits

• Courses must be paid in full before the course commences.

• Payment is for whole course not individual lessons, therefore credits or refunds will only be given in exceptional cases.

• Credits or refunds will not be given for lessons missed due to holidays or minor illness.

• Lessons missed due to serious illness or injury will either be credited to the next course or refunded.

• Anyone absent from lessons due to serious illness and injury should inform Bernie Baines Aquatic Development Officer01536 464643bernie.baines@corby.gov.ukin order for your claim to be processed.

Certificates• Your child will be able to gain certificates throughout swimming lessons.

• Instructors will issue a certificate request form when a stage is complete or a distance achieved.

• Certificate and Badge cost £3.00, collect at time of purchase from reception.

Pre-Swim Hygiene• Pre-swim hygiene is extremely important and assists in maintaining

good water quality.

• Pre-swim showering removes significant amounts of dirt and bacteria that would otherwise end up in the pool.

• If anyone in your family has had diarrhoea illness in the past 14 days it is advised that you don’t use the pool.

• We advise that you don’t allow your child to swim if they have eaten a large meal 2 hours prior to their lesson.

Child Protection Policy

Use of photographic and filming equipment - Any person wishing to engage inany video, zoom or close range photography must register their details with staffat the reception. Before carrying out photography authorisation stickers must beclearly displayed. Corby Borough Council reserves the right to decline suchauthorisation. Staff may take photos during lessons to use as promotionalmaterial within the facility. If you have any objections to this please informReception .
