Constance! It is our pleasure to have you here at Zeppelin University, participating at

the fourth LakeMUN Conference since its foundation in 2011.

I Overview of the various ways you can travel to Friedrichshafen

I By Automobile: Zeppelin University is located along the B-31 highway in

Friedrichshafen. From Stuttgart and the north, students should drive down the

Autobahn A-81 in the direction of Singen. Exit in Stockach towards Friedrichshafen.

I By Rail: The main train station (Friedrichshafen Stadtbahnhof ) is located roughly

3km from ZU and is accessible by taxi, bus, or train. There are non-stop connections

from Ulm and Stuttgart to Friedrichshafen. In addition there is a train called “IC 119”

that starts in Münster and goes on non-stop via Köln to Koblenz, Mainz, Mannheim,

Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Friedrichshafen. For further information, please check:

I By Bus: There are several non-stop connections from many cities in Germany to

Friedrichshafen by "Mein Fernbus Company" (e.g. Munich, Cologne, Berlin). Please

check: www.meinfernbus.de

I By Air: The Friedrichshafen airport (code FDH) is located approximately 5 miles

from the campus. You may fly non-stop from Frankfurt to Friedrichshafen with

Lufthansa, from Cologne with Germanwings and with Intersky from Düsseldorf,

Hamburg and Berlin. For further information, please check: www.lufthansa.com,

www.germanwings.com and www.flyintersky.com

There are several possibilities to travel from the airport to the city center

(Friedrichshafen Hauptbahnhof). The train and bus stations are directly located

outside the airport. There are two trains and one bus line that drive every hour fromthe airport to the Hauptbahnhof. The bus line 8 departs generally at .53 minutes

after the hour towards Friedrichshafen Hauptbahnhof (further information:

airport at .41 minutes after the hour and the other one at .01 minute after the hour to

Friedrichshafen Hauptbahnhof. For further information, please check again:

Zurich (code FRH), Switzerland is also an option. The airport is located about

90 minutes from Friedrichshafen. However, you will be required to travel by

train from the airport to either Romanshorn or Konstanz. From Romanshorn

you will take the auto ferry to Friedrichshafen; from Konstanz the catamaran.

The ferry and catamaran run hourly.

You may also fly into Stuttgart (code STR) and take the train to

Friedrichshafen (roughly 3 hours). The same goes for Munich airport.

I By Ship: The Friedrichshafen harbor is located approximately 2 miles from the

campus. Boat transportation to and from Romanshorn is available hourly. Departure

times from Friedrichshafen are generally at .41 minutes after the hour ; departure to

Friedrichshafen from Romanshorn at .36 minutes after the hour . Service is

generally interrupted at midnight, so make sure not to get caught on the unintended

side of the lake! Please bear in mind that passports are often controlled at the

harbours of Friedrichshafen and Romanshorn! Cost of the boat trip: approximately

6.50 Euro. From Konstanz, catamaran service is available from the pier adjacent the

train station (Hafenbahnhof ). The cost of the trip is about 9 Euro. The catamaran

runs once an hour until 9:00 p.m.

I Housing

During your time at Zeppelin University you will stay at the youth hostel in

Friedrichshafen (Graf-Zeppelin-Jugendherberge Friedrichshafen) and Ravensburg

(Jugendherberge Veitsburg Ravensburg). Whether you will stay at the hostel in

Friedrichshafen or Ravensburg will be chosen by lot.

In order to be back at Zeppelin University in time, a bus will pick you up each morning

at the hostel and drives you to University. After the daily schedule the bus departs

each evening towards the hostel.

I General information

I German citizens thus all participants have to hold a valid ID or passport all the

time during conference

I Please do not forget to bring pocket money

I Please keep in mind that you have to bring the confirmation of your parents if you

have not already sent it by post. It’s the second sheet of the application document

and it has to be signed by your parents!

I Dress code: As you may know, a Model United Nation conference is a formal

event. Therefore, you are required to wear formal clothing like men should put on a

suit and tie and women should be dresses adequately as well. As you can see on the

schedule we plan to have a little party Saturday evening. It would be nice if you could

bring something to wear for that evening.

I Required medicine: Please bring all your medicine that you (may) need due to

allergies or the like.

I If you are under 18, alcohol is strictly forbidden. You are not allowed to bring

alcohol to Zeppelin University or drink it during your free time.

I We hope that we can make your stay at Zeppelin University as pleasant as
