INFORMATION SHEET FOR ADMISSION TO B.Tech. PROGRAMMES UNDER

DASA SCHEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2017-2018

The candidates who got admission into B. Tech. programmes of National Institute of

Technology Puducherry under DASA SCHEME FOR THE YEAR 2017 - 2018 are requested

to report at the institute for Registration and Hostel allotment as per the schedule given

below:

1. Reporting details (B.Tech.)

Reporting period : July 21 to 25, 2017

Time : 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM

Venue : Room No. GF-RF 3, Ground Floor, Science Block

2. Documents to be brought by the candidate at the time of admission

The Originals of the following documents have to be brought and submitted at the

time of reporting for admission:

i. Downloaded copy of Provisional Allotment letter

ii. Name & Date of Birth Certificate (X Class Certificate)

iii. Marks card / Grade card of Qualifying Examinations (XII Class or Equivalent) (If a

Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of

marks/CGPA on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the

Board specifying the equivalent marks/CGPA and submit it at the time of reporting

for admission.)

iv. Transfer Certificate issued from the school last attended

v. Study & Character Certificate from the school last attended

vi. Candidate’s Passport(s) (Recent and expired)

vii. Proof for PIO/OCI (if applicable)

viii. Medical Certificate on physical fitness and HIV free can be obtained from a reputed

medical lab in India or home country (Refer Annexure)

ix. Student Visa (Applicable for Foreign Nationals)

x. Passport (5 Nos.) & Stamp (5 Nos.) Size Photographs

xi. In addition to the above, the following certificates in original have to be produced

by CIWG candidates

a. Passport of the parent working in the gulf

b. Parent’s visa

c. Parent’s Work Permit (If any)

d. Certificate from the company/organization as proof that parent is working in

gulf country as per Appendix III of DASA 2017-UG Brochure.

Note: Two (2) copies of each of the above certificates (item 2 to 8) self attested are to be

brought at the time of admission. Candidates are advised to keep sufficient number of

copies of mark lists and other certificates.

Candidate must be present in person along with parent / authorised guardian for

taking admission at NIT Puducherry. (The authorized guardian should possess the

authorization letter with photo identity from the parent). Admission in absentia

(proxy) will not be allowed even on medical grounds. If the candidate does not

report on the above mentioned date and time, his/her admission is likely to be

cancelled.

3. Fee to be paid at the time of admission(For all DASA students)

Institute fee – Rs.8800 /-

Hostel fee – Rs.26,500/-

Mode of Payment - Net Banking / SWIFT Transfer

Produce the proof for the payment of Institute fee and Hostel fee.

Hostel allotment shall be done on the day of admission.

4. General Information

i. Hostel Facilities: Separate Hostel facilities are available for boys and girls.

ii. Location of the Institute:

National Institute of Technology, Puducherry (NITPY) is situated in Karaikal. NITPY

is located on the National Highway NH45, at about 50 kms from Chidambaram

towards south. The nearest domestic airport to our college is Puducherry Airport.

The nearest International airport is Trichy International Airport. Bus Routes from

Puducherry and Chennai pass through the College to reach Karaikal.

Format for Medical Fitness Certificate

MEDICAL REPORT (to be issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner)

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

Candidates should have good general physique. In particular,

a) Chest measurement should not be less than 70 cm, with satisfactory limits of expansion

and contraction.

b) Vision should be normal. In case of defective vision, it should be corrected to 6/9 in both

eyes or 6/6 in the better eye. Colour blind and uniocular persons are restricted from

admission to certain courses.

c) Hearing should be normal. Defective hearing should be corrected.

d) Heart and lungs should not have any abnormality and there should be no history of

mental illness and epileptic fits.
