K2 Calls Between 4/17 and 4/30

•Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to 109 calls known or suspected** •Lincoln Police Department responded to 43 calls known or suspected•Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2 known callsThere is overlap with many of the calls, but unduplicated totals result in 129 calls between 4/17 and 4/30. **Suspected cases are often not verified until hospital treatment. In addition, other substances are used at the same time.

K2 Calls Since 4/17

• Only 11 percent of the hospital cases are minors; the average age is approximately 32 years old

• Not all calls to LPD resulted in transport to one of the hospitals – approximately ¼ did not

• 7 of the 8 cases at The Bridge were not transported to the hospital – all were admitted by law enforcement

• 2 cases were responded to by LSO in their jurisdiction and both were transported to the hospital by LFR via mutual aid request

• 1 suspected case was reported by LPS and transported by LFR

K2 Calls Since 4/17• Among “Frequent Fliers” (FFs) = 2 or more calls

by one department for the same person: – LPD and LFR shared 2 FFs– LPD had one additional FF that LFR did not treat– LPD had one additional FF that LFR treated one of the

calls but not both– LFR had five additional FFs that LPD was not called– Total of 9 FFs between 4/17 and 4/30

• CHI St E’s has had no cases since 4/24• LSO has had no cases since 4/24• The Bridge has had no cases since 4/24

Incredible. I will relay the day shift experience as soon as possible. My thanks to everyone on the team for their contribution in stemming the epidemic K2 tide with which the community was faced. Next Steps• Continue surveillance in the community with

LLCHD and the hospitals and LFR• Continue to work with policy makers, law

department and law enforcement to keep it out of Lincoln
