On 25 April 2015, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, 81km northwest of the capital Kathmandu. Another quake, measuring 7.3, struck on 12 May, this time 83km east of the capital.
The Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) was activated to meet the urgent communications needs of the humanitarian community responding to this disaster.
