Seafood EveningOne of the most popular evenings at Castle House is our Seafood night. This month Head Chef Claire Nicholls will be including some delicious lobster to the four-course menu with the freshest fish straight from the market.

Time: 7pm

Tickets: £50 for a four-course dinner, a glass of Prosecco and canapés on arrival

Paintings and Photographs from internationally acclaimed artist and photographer Jonathan Myles-Lea.

Friday, 7th to 29th SeptemberWe are very proud to welcome artist and photographer Jonathan Myles-Lea to exhibit at Castle House. He is the UK’s leading painter of country houses and gardens and his commissions include Highgrove, The Laskett, Daylesford and Oprah Winfrey’s house in California. Awarded the title ‘Living National Treasure’ by Country Life magazine, he has completed more than 60 major commissions in 10 countries.

Now resident in Herefordshire, Jonathan’s studio is The Folly at Sir Roy Strong’s Laskett Gardens. This exhibition includes some of his recent photographic works.

Thursday, 13th SeptemberJonathan Myles-Lea will be talking about his body of work and some of the interesting commissions he has worked on.

Time: 12pm – 3.00pm

Wednesday, 26th September

Indian Summer with Rayeesa at Castle House

Join us for another evening of delicious Indian food from the increasingly famous Rayeesa, who will be demonstrating how to make one of her favourite recipes which will be easy, quick and very tasty. Enjoy an assortment of spicy starters, a selection of main courses and a vegetarian option, followed by a variety of authentic Indian desserts.

Throughout the Summer We will be offering a two-course Summer Lunch with a complimentary glass of House wine for £20 in the restaurant, Castle Bistro or, jetstream permitting, on the garden terrace.

Herefordshire Flavours FestivalTaking place in and around Hereford with an array of exciting events and culinary stars including Mary Berry, Tony Tobin, Xanthe Clay and Katy Ashworth.

Saturday, 27th OctoberEx-chef and Daily Telegraph Food Editor Xanthe Clay will be talking about her new book The Contented Cook and giving a demonstration at Castle House with Head Chef Claire Nicholls and George Watkins.

Born and BredPhotographs by Kate Healey

Born and bred in Herefordshire, Kate Healey studied photography at Hereford College of Art and for her degree at Falmouth. Although her career has taken a different direction, Kate can still be found out and about taking photographs, with Herefordshire countryside her speciality. She is fascinated by country life and the farming community and this exhibition reflects her deep interest. All exhibits are for sale.

Fireworks and Barbecue in the GardenEnjoy a glass of warm mulled wine and a hearty Bonfire Night barbecue and watch our fireworks over the castle moat. Children are very welcome.

Game Evening with wines from Nothing But The Grape

Claire Nicholls will be creating a four-course seasonal game dinner and Rupert Birch from organic wine company Nothing But The Grape will be matching specially selected wines and discussing the reasons behind his choices.

Christmas Art ExhibitionApple Store Gallery has put together an exhibition of local artists’ work that will appeal to people looking for festive gifts.

Festive Flowers and WreathsDebbie Coplans from Hibiscus, Hereford’s favourite florist, will help you to make the most eye-catching flower arrangements or wreaths to last throughout the festive period. These one-to-one workshops include all materials, a two-course festive lunch and coffee.

There will be a selection of interesting stalls with clothes, accessories, toys, jewellery and lots more ideas. Shopping at Castle HouseHereford’s Hat Trick and Ross-on-Wye’s Crows Feet both have a cabinet at Castle House with a selection of gifts that can be purchased every day from 7am until 11pm.

The One Dietby Georges Philips & Simon Shawcross

Personal Trainer (and Herefordian) Simon Shawcross has co-written a book called The One Diet which has taken the United States by storm. The One Diet is not a calorie or point counting cumbersome diet. It is simply a diet based on good food which everyone can enjoy plus a 20-minute weekly workout to maximise the dietary results. Simon will be talking about his book and the ethos behind the diet, and he has worked with Claire Nicholls to create a menu to can get you started. www.theonediet.com
