CHILD CARE AVAILABLE! The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is the process to prepare people to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. The R.C.I.A. begins a journey of faith that provides the opportunity to grow in a deeper relationship with God in the company of the whole community of faith. The R.C.I.A. helps deepen your relationship with the Lord while leading to a better understanding of the Catholic faith and its practices. Participants in the R.C.I.A. process are individuals who are 18 years of age or older. They may be unbaptized (Catechumens) or already baptized in another Christian faith (Candidates). Candidates and Catechumens may be received into the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil. RCIA at Infant Jesus begins this fall. Date and times TBA. For more information call Stacy Keen 755-1734 or email [email protected]

Note from Pastor: In just a few weeks we will be starting another year of RCIA classes. As you probably know, RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the process by which unbaptized adults, and children over the age of 7, are initiated into the life of the Church through Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. RCIA is also available to those adults who have already been baptized, either as Catholics or in another Church or Christian community, and who wish to become members of the Catholic Church through Confirmation and Holy Communion. The process is broken up into stages. The Inquiry stage lasts several months and is a time for interested people to learn basic information and enter into a prayerful reflection as to whether they desire to become Catholic. Having made the decision to become Catholic, an unbaptized person becomes a Catechuman and a baptized person becomes a Candidate around the beginning of Advent. This is a time for the Catechuman/ Candidate to learn more and spiritually prepare in a more focused way for entrance into the Church. On the first Sunday of Advent, the Catechumens are officially chosen for membership in the Church by the Bishop at the Rite of Election. The Catechumens are now known as the Elect. Baptized Candidates who are preparing for Confirmation and Communion are also strengthened by the Bishop’s words and prayers at the Rite of Election. At the Easter Vigil, the night before Easter, all the elect and candidates are joyously received into the church through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and holy Communion. If you know of someone searching for a spiritual home, or who is interested in becoming a Catholic, please encourage them to sign up for RCIA. You can do that, or get more information, by calling the parish office --Fr. Andy

Quiz Question Answer: C) Many Protestant denominations pray the Our Father, as they rely exclusively on the Bible for their traditions, because all the Gospels describe how Jesus taught the Our Father to his Disciples.
