That included talc powder, marble & granite blocks, quartz & sand. The Minister has further assured that the decree was coordinated & supported by all concerned government agencies & information centers serving business organizations including the data banks at the Imports & Exports Control Authority, the Mineral Wealth Authority, the Chemicals Industry Chamber of Petroleum & Mining, also the Chamber of Construction Materials at the Federation of Industries. Projects Awards Egypt's Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Wealth has witnessed the signing of the contract for the Phosphoric Acid Complex Project in Abu Tartour in El Wadi El Gedid valued $ 750 million to annually produce 1 million tons of Phosphoric Acid. That was reported in the media indicating it was signed between Eng. Khaled Al Ghazali Harb, Head of El Wadi Co. for Phosphate Industries & Industries, Eng. Mohamed Hathout, Chairman of ENNPI Co., John Simon Artiga, Head of Flour Co. of the US, Technology Holder & Geologist Fikri Yousef, Undersecretary for Mineral Wealth. Worth indicating is that Abu Tartour Area& hill disposes on raw phosphate to produce phosphoric acid estimated at 1 billion tons.

A project seems now revived to re-operate a reasonably sized salt export & processing complex in Beer El Abd which has stopped working since 2011, to involve investments estimated at L.E. 1.5 billion. That was announced by Dr. Eng. Mohamed Saad, member of the board of directors of the Investors Societies Union & of Sinai Development Committee who has been coordinating with Sinai Governor - General Abdel Fattah Harhour, to manage the issuance of required approvals to re-operate the complex as a first phase. That, according to DR. M Saad, will be followed with the construction of the required factories to produce salt derivatives such as the caustic soda and the chlorine now exported in raw form. Worth reminding is that the Investors' Societies Union has held earlier a conference under the slogan Development VZV Terror in Sinai and it was attended by Mz. Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning & Follow up, also by General Mohamed El Zamallout, Governor of El Wadi El Gedid a.o. During that conference Mr. Mohamed Farid Khamis Honorary Chairman of the Oriental Weavers Group, announced the launching of the Holding Co. for Sinai Development capitalized at L.E. 200 million issued capital to which both Mr. Khamis & the BUE (British University Egypt) contributed L.E. 20 million each.

Egypt's Minister of Transport urging the Minister of Petroleum & Minerals to find a solution to encounter bitumin shortages facing roads construction projects. That was reported in the media indicating the Minister of Transport, Dr. Eng. Hesham Arafat, has committed to solve the problem in the next few days after repeated claims were received from contractors involved in executing the National Roads Project. On his side another claim of bitumin shortage was expressed by Eng. Ali El Sayyad, Chairman of the Nile Co. for Roads Construction who indicated his company owns about 26 concrete mixers requiring thousands of tons of bitumin monthly & is suffering from its shortage on the market.

Egyptian food exports during February 2018 recording 13 % increase up from their level during the same month of 2017. That was revealed from data of the National Food Exports Council indicating they have reached in February 2018 about $ 231 million up from $ 204 million during the same month of 2016. The figure for the first two months together of the year totaled $ 447 million marking 9 % increase above their level during the same months of 2017. Executives at the Council predicted Saudi Arabia to become a major recipient of Egyptian food exports to the area in the next stage. Interesting was the fact that Egyptian food exports to Saudi Arabia during those two months totaled $ 21 million followed by Jordan with $ 11 million, by Algeria with $ 10 million, by Yemen with $ 9.8 million, also by UAE & Iraq with $ 9.7 million each. That should encourage exporters to improve on quality & packaging.

Executive measures to be soon announced to proceed with mobilizing investments in favor of the Golden Triangle Project to extend in Sinai, Qena, Sohag and the Red Sea Governorate. That was reported in the media quoting a government source predicting the project would extend on 2.2 million feddans with estimated investments getting close to $ 16 billion. Of the said figure, about $ 6 billion investments are projected to be raised by the private sector & other $ 2 billion by the government to cover infrastructure requirements. The source noted that the project investments will concentrate on mining activities and operations stressing on major mining materials such as gold, iron & chrome.

That was formally announced in the media indicating that Arqam Capital is acting as the financial advisor on behalf of the seller. Worth indicating is that Misr Coffee Co. was established in 1984 & capitalized at L.E. 50 million, fully paid up. It owns its 10,000 M2 factory hosting 4 complete production lines.

Egyptian commodities exports to Russia during 2017 increasing to $ 505 billion marking 35 % increase up from $ 374 million in 2016. That was announced by Eng. Tarek Kabil, Minister of Trade & Industry attributing the development to the increase of fresh vegetables & fruits during the year by 39 %, those of other feed products by % 115 % & those of the medical industries by 48 %.

Egypt now exporting annually about 1.5 million tons of oranges & 780,000 tons of potato. That was announced by highly seen Eng. Ali Issa & reported in the media indicating that oranges exports is the highest ever reached, mainly exported to Russia & Saudi Arabia. As to potato exports, so they are mainly exported to Russia, deemed the largest market for the Egyptian product. Markets diversification is highly demanded for both crops to avoid unforeseen factors & developments, also controls are required to protect the country from possible risks. Also needed is the expansion of agro industries depending on both crops to produce potato starch and orange juice, alternatively jam/ marmalade.

Complexes are located in Sadat City, Badr City & Port Said City. That was announced by the Minister of Trade & Industry indicating the Port Said Complex includes 118 factories on 181,000 M2 area with average areas set for 300 M2, 560 M2 & 840 M2 each. The minister assured the cabinet targets to build 22 such complexes by the year 2020.

That was reported in the media quoting Egypt's Minister of Trade & Industry, Eng. Tarek Kabil, revealing the Polish Group has started evaluating another project to produce cheese & butter to go under L.E. 900 million investments as being the project's second phase. Egypt has applied for $ 6 billion loans & credits by the IDB - the Islamic Development Bank & its Group for the next three years including $ 3 billion for projects finance & other $ 3 billion for trade finance. That was reported in the media indicating that the second trench will be signed first with the International Trade Finance Arm of the Bank to cover financing imports of petroleum & food, with the major portion of facilities to be used for food imports. Media reports indicated that the first trench, concerning projects, will be finalized in a month or so from date.

Earlier formed consortium to establish the Textiles City on 306 feddans in Minya Governorate, getting extended. The project was initially grouping Al Alamiya Co., Arafa Group & Dice (Textile & Garments) Co. and now other 3 new members joined including Giza Textiles, Nile Textiles & Long Live Egypt Fund. The consortium has earlier pledged to invest $ 324million in the project divided on 6 equal shares. At present negations are further progressing with two new Chinese investors. The project seems enjoying full blessing of the Minister of Investment, Ms. Sahar Nasr & Head of the Long Live Egypt Investment Fund.
