Sustainablility is rapidly becoming a major topic: European and Eur- asian railway companies have recognised together with the wagon construction, the wagon repair and the paint industrie the need for using innovative solvent-reduced high-solid-sytems as well as en-vironmentally-friendly and low-solvent water-based paint systems at an early stage.

As a result of extensive laboratory and practical tests over many years, we are now able to offer suitable and field-tested coating systems. A realistic processability under consideration of special features regar-ding the application field is always in the foreground.

Optimised system solutions for RAIL Passage and Cargo

For more than 10 years novatic delivers water-dilutable 2C acryl-po-lyurethane top coats and 2C epoxy primers for the series painting of railway vehicles. Already since 1998 vehicles are coated in series with the innovative basis-/clear coat system. More than 2.500 passenger carriages (Passage) have been coated since then which are used un-der most extreme weather conditions from the Baltics to Siberia.

In addition to coating systems for passenger carriages and locomoti-ves (Passage) we have developed a large product portfolio for freight wagons. From 1C products for cost-effective maintenance of simple freight wagons up to high-quality 2C epoxy thick film systems which are e.g. suitable for food transport. Thousands of freight wagons (CARGO) have already been coated successfully with our products.

Our water-dilutable coating systems (aquatic) meet the high requi-rements regarding quality and the legal guidelines regarding solvent emissions (VOC). The products dont have any heavy metals, chlorin-ated hydrocarbons or other questionable ingredients.

Apart from classic products such as anti-noise-coatings, there are high-performance structure- and effect coatings for plastics and me-tals for interior areas. A variety of colours for customization, wipe and cleanability as well as best resistance to mechanical influences are prerequisites for use this can be ensured by AE82 and

ZS04.

8Internal coating

We also offer coats for internal areas. Here we focus on the following characteristics: The integrity of the goods, which are transported, has the highest premise.

Our ZD95 and ZG97 are a emission- and solvent-free, abrasion re-sistant two-pot coat on basis of high-quality epoxy resin bonding with excellent resistance against water and chemicals. This product is out-standing for internal coating of steel containers.

We have the admission according to food and water regulations.

9System proposal: Wheelstes

Our system for wheelsets

Our wheelset coating system is comprised of a two-component base coat based on an epoxy resin dispersion and a two-component top coat based on an elastified epoxy resin dispersion.

This structure ensures high mechanical resistance and durability against greases, oils, salts and chemicals.

Because of the thermally sensitive behaviour of the top coat overhea-ting of wheelset components can be detected by the coat peeling off above 280 C.
