Continuous/ Enhanced Provision Malleable Act: Space Playdough cards Sand Act: Give chn wet sand in a bucket. Take a handful & let it run through their fingers to create ‘splats’ in sand tray. Draw alien faces on them with their fingers. Put out timers. How many sandcastles can chn build before the sand runs out! Water Act: Put out sand timers. How many letters/ numbers can you catch before the sand runs out. How many words can you make out of your letters? Can you order your numbers in 1’s/ 2’s forwards/backwards? Number World Act: Show star/alien patterns and encourage chn to describe patterns using colour, shape & pattern words, & to predict what comes next. They use their own stars/aliens to cut up and make their own patterns, e.g. alien, star, alien, star or two long-armed aliens, one robot alien, etc. Stress that they must use a repeating pattern. They show a partner their pattern to see if they can guess what comes next. (N10) Make a collage of a UFO or alien, using regular 2D shapes. Encourage the chn to name and describe the shapes as they play ‘I spy an alien/UFO that has ….. using shape clues. (N11) Music Listening Area: Sing and act 5 little men in a flying saucer song. Writing Act: Write notes for the spaceship. With help they write this, then draw a speech bubble round what they have written. (Enc and model always draw the speech bubble AFTER writing!) Outdoor adventure: Ask chn to imagine they are an alien who has just arrived on Earth explore the school grounds as if seeing them for the first time.Use stopwatches outside alongside wheeled toys. Chn pretend to time each other having running races, bike races, etc.
