Mezzanines and platforms – one system with many possibil ities

Shelving mezzanines

With free-standing shelving mezza-nines you can double your storagespace. The design options arevirtually unlimited. Depending onyour requirements, different uprightpatterns, support profiles andfloor coverings.

Naturally a multi-tier design isalso possible.

Storage platforms

With platforms, either aisles arebuilt between the shelving rows orcomplete platforms are built ontothe shelving units themselves.

This method is mostly used,where order picking is priority andconveying installations are needed.

The advantage lies in the factthat all the different kinds ofracking systems, like modularshelving systems, live storageor pallet racking can be usedas a supporting system.

We supply special solutions for specialrequirements.Mesh gratings are necessary either for fireprotection reasons or for ventilation.Multiplex boards are the optimal solutionfor extremely high loads and long life span.For higher comfort in a constant workplaceare conductive coverings or floor coveringwith PVC dimples ideal.

Decking made from chipboard

Platform surface covering made fromchipboards are applicable for a large rangeof application in different versions. Surfacesin natural finish, oil-hardened or with anti-slip coating.Normal or high-pressed, for fire protectionclass B1 or B2, with tongue and groovejoint or as a board.Chipboard thickness 30 or 38 mm.

Standard stairs for multi-tier shelving installations

� Standard stairs for multi-tiershelving installationspermit a safe and easy passage and are extremelysturdy. The requirements according to DIN 24 530(stairs made from steel) are to be considered. All stepsare limited by the side panels of the stair case andbolted into them. Depending upon platform height,additional stairway landings are necessary. The twodifferent stair models are being used according toindividual requirements and the availability of space

Lighting installations for warehouses

The guidelines for the BGR 234 (formerly ZH 1/428)require the following: "All storage installations are to beequipped with adequate and glare-free lighting. Thelighting installations must be designed and positionedso that they are protected against mechanical damage.The nominal lighting density of the general lightingshould be at least 100 lux at a height of 0.85 m abovethe floor. For more detailed viewing tasks, e.g. in smallparts stores and reading tasks, the nominal lightingdensity should be at least 200 lux. Stored goods thatare sensitive to light and heat may necessitate differentmeasures."

For this reason SSI SCHAEFER created a special lightingprogram, which fulfills the nominal densities of glare-freelight within all areas of racking platform installations,demanded in the working place guidelines.

SSI SCHAEFER lights are integrated into the supportstructure of the platform level and are protected therebyto a large extent against impact damage.

Assembly transverse to the aisle direction forunimpaired area in front of the highest shelf, withfree view of the stored material for the staff.

All support profiles in the middle aisles are preparedfor the admission of commercial cable conduit PG 9/1or other installation material. SSI SCHAEFER uses onlycompensated lighting.

Storage and style don't have to bemutually exclusive. With SSI SCHAEFERthis is also reflected in the construc-tion of a 2-storey floating platformsystem with C-Sigma platformsupports for a specialist bicyclesupplier. In the project, the platformwarehouse was integrated visuallyinto the sales area. The individuallevels are connected via stairs, whichare also fitted with rails for movingthe bicycles more easily. In addition,the use of mesh floors means thatthere is a clear view of the stored,pre-assembled wheels.

Integrated into the platform, a good lift make iteasier to operate the system and provide unre-stricted access to all warehouse levels. Thismeans that loads of up to 2000 kg can beconveyed.

Thanks to the stable, freestanding frame con-struction in a compact design, the space requiredis minimal and stable, and they can be installedvirtually anywhere, as well as retrofitted. Themodular system ensures fast delivery times andsimple installation on-site with no cutting or weld-ing work required.

Between 2 and 6 stopping points can be set upand equipped with up to 12 access points. The liftdoors conform to the fire safety requirements ofDIN 18 090. Safety elements permit installationover areas accessible to persons.

With call and send control, the lifts are operatedfrom outside, and certain models can also beequipped with a panel inside the lift itself forinternal operation.
