HHF Volunteers Needed
Just like last year, IMHC will be distributing literature and spreading our love of
Morgans from our stall display in the Breed Demonstration barn. The club will need
help with setup and tear down as well as manning the area throughout the weekend
(April 1-3) and particularly while our breed demonstration horses are performing.
Contact Bill Jacobsen at 317-769-6612 or [email protected] to volunteer!
Check out Breed Demonstration and Stallion Row
We will have Leah Borders and Let’s Get Byzy representing the Morgan in the daily
breed demonstration doing hunter and jumping. Donna Zimmerman and her stallion
will be showing off their stuff in the Stallion Row area. We know both of these
ladies like to chat so make sure you come visit them stall side!
Get Social (and Breakfast)
Stop by the IMHC display located with the breed demonstration stabling to visit with
club members and enjoy some breakfast snacks and coffee.
Take a minute to notice our new stall curtains, courtesy of a Breed Promotion Grant
from AMHA. The Board felt applying for this grant for this purpose was an
opportunity for our club to stretch our available funding further into the coming
years while increasing the quality and reach of our presence at this event. We would
wanted to invest in supplies to create a clean, professional, attractive booth and stall
area and to provide a welcoming area for the Indiana Morgan community to
volunteer at the HHF&E and improving interactions with HHF attendees! Be sure to
let us know what you think :)

Biomechanics
Clinic Saturday, May 14, 2016
Instructed by USDF Bronze Medalist
Cheryl Hollis
Wheatfield, IN
No matter what discipline you ride,
these techniques will help you rider
more effectively with less work. Cheryl
has helped western, saddleseat, hunt
and dressage riders to be more effective
and get better results. She trains with J.
Ashton Moore of California, an
International Judge and clinician.
Cheryl is back by popular demand after
last year’s clinic at Linda Laud’s farm.
It was a fun, educational day last year
and all who attended agreed there was a
lot more to cover and took away great
information to apply to their riding.
Clinic starts at 10am CST/11am
EST. There will be lecture first, then
first rider. Pitch in lunch to follow,
everyone please bring dish to share and
your favorite drink. Linda will provide
bottled water and meat.) After lunch,
rest of rides will go. Bring lawn chairs.
If you would like to attend as a rider,
please contact Linda as soon as possible
to reserve your spot. All others
interested in attending to audit and
socials should also rsvp prior to May 1.
You can reach Linda by phone (219)

The Whinny:
Rockview Remington: 1983-2016
We all have those horses that just
aren’t replaceable and Remi was one
the Hicks family was lucky to have for
over 25 years.
Sharon and Dave Hicks purchased him
as a 6 year old in the late 80’s for their
kids, Chris and Sara. Both kids showed
him in nearly every division at 4-H
shows up to the Grand National. More
recently, his most important jobs were
getting love and attention from Chris’s
kids, Isabella and Rex, and keeping
Sharon busy taking great care of this
old man.
His spunky personality and deep whiny
are deeply missed around the barn!

Figure & Sons" Available Online If you are an avid follower of the history of the Morgan breed, prepare to be dazzled with a free
offering of some amazing reading. Starting in the January 2015 issue of The Morgan Horse and
continuing into January 2016, Morgan historian Brenda Tippin has authored a series of articles on
the genesis of our breed. The series features a look at Justin Morgan himself followed by separate
articles (with as many as 7500 to 10,000 words per article) on the prominent sons Woodbury,
Bulrush, and Sherman and on the lesser known sons. Due to the buzz the series has generated and
as a service to the Morgan public, we are posting the "Figure & Sons" articles on the AMHA
website where any and all may enjoy the content. Go to morganhorse.com/about/breed-
magazine/figure-sons. If you have missed reading these articles in print we strongly urge you to
subscribe to The Morgan Horse so you don’t miss out on anymore of the diverse equine journalism
practiced at the official breed journal. To subscribe go to morganhorse.com/about/breed-
magazine/subscribe.
AMHECT Establishes Harry Sebring Memorial Grant
The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust is pleased to announce the
establishment of the Harry Sebring Memorial Grant. Harry was a renowned Morgan horse trainer
and the grant was created by his family in his memory, since he always wanted to see young adults
excel personally and professionally in the show ring. The grant is offered to young adults (under
age 40) who are AMHA members and would like to further his or her equine education, skills, or
proficiency and/or to provide equine-related experiences and education that will further the
recipient's business endeavors. The application must be accompanied by a full proposal of the idea,
budget details, and proof of any materials that will be used to promote the event and/or program.
AMHECT will award up to a total of $5,000 each year and will consider grants of all sizes. Checks
may not be made payable to the individual, but to the clinician, institution, or business providing
the services. The grant application period opens Friday, January 1, 2016 and closes at 5 p.m.
on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Inquiries about grant applications or the grant process are handled
only by emailing [email protected] with any questions or comments.
