India Design Leaders Talk Future ofAutomotive DesignUnder the theme: "Design Empowering Tomorrow", Visteon joined a panel discussion onquality and value of design in the auto environment at the Confederation of Indian Industry'ssecond annual Future of Automotive Design conference, staged at the ITC Grand Chola
hotel in Chennai, India, on August 19.
The conference offered an ideal platform for participants and attendees to gain insight into how design shapes future vehicles and theunderlying opportunities it brings. The meeting facilitated the expression of important ideas, knowledgesharing, business and technologycollaboration among the industries attending and the exploration of industry and design institute coworking opportunities.
Visteon's Amit Jain, India country lead, was one of a number of expert speakers who presented to more than 200 senior managementand industrial representatives from diverse sectors across India.

Amit Jain, left, addresses the industry conference in Chennai
Addressing a packed meeting hall, Jain began his presentation by outlining a view of today's automobile through consumers' perceptionsand definitions. Proceeding to explain automotive design, Jain said that a wide number of design considerations including visual impact,functionality, trends and ergonomics have to be taken into account during the creative process. He instilled that it is also imperative thata single strategy is planned and adhered to by every person working on a project to ensure welldesigned products.
Jain continued by stressing the importance of creating experiences for the user that can be sustained, rather than novelties that willeventually wear thin and lose their appeal. He said that advancements in technology and connectivity need to be utilized to provide animproved experience, in order to keep up with other industries and the overall desires of the consumer.
The conference also incorporated a comprehensive panel discussion on the future of automotive design, with three further plenarysessions that expanded on the overall topic examining and investigating different perspectives and methods of adaption in terms oftechnology and trends in the automotive sector.
