Suggested Site Structure

Each Simulation Domain has its own team site

Each Simulation Domain Team Site has:

1) Simulation Report

• It is a shared best practice (especially in R&D) to report the process used to obtain the results of a given simulation.

• If the report is well done is used as reference by less experienced analyst to perform the same kind of simulation. (valuable knowledge)

• For repetitive task usually the reporting can be automated (at least partially) with scripting and post processing tool.

1) Simulation Report

• Given the fact that a report contain valuable knowledge we want to be able to access its contents.

• As plain text file the knowledge is completely unstructured > we can create ‘zone’ of the document that can be exposed as metadata [e.g Target of the Simulation (text), Target achieved (yes/no) ]

• The reason of structuring the report is simply to provide meaningful search refiner filter > Easier to drill down the results and find a specific item.

1) Simulation Report

• Configuration of the SDM is essentially reduced to the creation of 1 to N Simulation Domain Specific Word Template Report.

• For each simulation domain there must be a “Team Responsible” in charge of the definition of the template and maintenance of the his/her team site.

• Open XML API > We have already methods to access programmatically the report and its content (zip). Most post processing tools already allow to automate some part of report.

• For FEA/CFD Report Template in the first page it would be nice to insert a VCollab file instead of static picture.
