Independent Living Skills Training Modules Workshop
Event Description
Independent living skills (ILS) are essential components of the expanded core curriculum for students who are Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI). This training will provide you with the tools, resources, checklists, material lists, and sample lessons you’ll need to create your own ILS workshops for students and their families. This training is intended for school personnel who work with students who are BVI.
Participants will:
• Learn how to use the modules to create their own ILS training workshops for families and students
• Gain new skills for teaching a variety of ILS, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, basic home maintenance, hygiene, and organization
• Learn how to utilize checklists to gain necessary information for planning ILS trainings

Dates and Times:
October 9, 2020: 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. October 23, 2020: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. October 30, 2020: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. November 6, 2020: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. An additional (optional) 20-to-30-minute one -on-one meeting with the instructor will be available by appointment.

$50 for school personnel $25 for college students studying BVI professions
