– Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.

– The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential.

• Satya Bharti School Program

– The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation.

– It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India.

– The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students

– The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable and holistic model of quality education in rural India

– Present Operational Status:

• Number of Schools Operational: 236

• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu

• Number of Students Enrolled: Over 30,000

• Geographical location:

-Community is situated in Neemrana block at approx. distance of 19 km. from NH-8.

- Agriculture, Govt. service and family business are the main income resources of the villagers.

• Cultural Background:

– Majority of the population belongs to Hindu community .They followed Hindu rituals and traditions.

– Dominant Caste in Village is Rajput.– The dressing style of community is long Kurta &

Dhoti/ pant & shirts, for men and women dressing style is Ghagra & Odhni.

• There are many problems in the village but we felt that Child Marriage is one of the major problem in the village.

We ‘Felt’:

We ‘Imagined’:

Child marriage is a sin to the society. It should not be followed. It has been banned but still it is prevailing in the rural areas which is effecting the couples life. According to the students, if they can motivate the villagers and aware them on the impacts of Child marriage.

• Organised a meeting with community people to make them understand about the initiative of Satya Bharti School.

• Organised a rally on Child Marriage and educate community people .

• Conducted Street play in different location of community.

• Prepare the Slogans & posters on Child Marriage and door to door campaign.

• Display the Posters on various Public Places.

We ‘Did’:

• The community people recognized the effort of Satya Bharti School.

• People understand the importance of right age of marriage.• The Community people appreciated the initiative of Satya Bahrti

School and come forward for eliminating such sin from the society.

Impact on Community:

• Understand the felt need of community and work on it.• Children feel proud to be a part of this campaign and become

change agents.• The satya Bahrti Staff members were with positive attitude to

take such initiatives especially in Rajput Community. • The Motivation level of Girl Child was very high and put their

best effort to stop such practices.

Impact on Us:

Experience of Community Members & Teachers:

• The teachers feel that they can make a difference by initiating such kind of campaign in village and protect the Childhood of many children.

• The community people felt that they have to change

themselves as per present society norms and Culture.

• We will educate the community people in Parents Teacher Meetings as well as educate the members of School Development Management Committee so that they can educate the other community people.

• To make villagers aware about the impact of Child Marriage on Couple.
