IDI-BD2K Faculty DevelopmentOpen to full-time faculty members of the College of Natural Sciences and their collaborators.
Activities:• Workshops, seminars and hackathons (as participants and/or
mentors)• Short sabbaticals, summer research experiences, workshops and
other activities at the collaborating BD2K centers. • A call for funding faculty developmental activities will be done once a
year.

Some Accomplishments• BBD1 course offered twice and BBD2 offered once• The first cohort of students interned at our partner BD2K centers last summer
(10 students, all of Hispanic origin, 7 women)• 58 students on mailing list• Seven students have registered for BBD1 course.• Hacking Health in the Caribbean on November 2015 as part of Symposium of
Health Informatics in Latin America and the Caribbean - over 135 researchers and students participated
• Several professional seminars and a workshop on Causal Discovery

Future Work• Three students participating in Quantitative Biology Workshop at MIT in
January 2017• Seminar and a workshop on Causal Discovery in January 2017• Offer BBD2 course in the spring 2017• Replicathon and Data Carpentry Workshop in March 2017• Continue with monthly professional activities• Possibly Data Science or Big Data Certification• Datathon in 2017-2018 academic year
