W.T. Whistle tones (flute)

Special forms of WT (flute): Cover the entire mouthpiece with the lips. The teeth are loosely

enclosed by the lips and do not touch the embouchure plate. With the tip of the tongue filling

the lower part of the embouchure hole, the air stream flows over the tongue into the upper

part of the embouchure hole and a high WT with a clearly defined tone is created.

The resulting pitches are also based on the harmonic series and can be controlled by

changing the air pressure.

Bisbigliando: use alternative fingerings to change tone colour

Slap

Speaking and playing: articulate the indicated phoneme whilst providing enough air to create

the resonance

Multiphonics: only embochure, the higher the harmonics, the more the jaw should move

towards the base of the reed

PIANO

Preparation

The following strings have to prepared in advance as indicated:

Bow the indicate string with violin hair or a rosined fishing line .

This range is to be damped with Blue-Tack and not to be removed during the whole

performance.

Symbols for sticks, mallets and other objects for piano preparation (see instructions on the score):

Playing techniques:

Damp the string

Harmonics: touch the appropriate node of the given string inside the piano lightly

before touching the key (change the fundamental if necessary in order to get the

harmonic)

Remove the pedal gradually

Rub a Brush on the tuning pins of the lowest strings

Sweep the string with a Super ball mallet
