    Incident Update

    Overview Date: September 18, 2014 8:00 a.m. EDT

    National Preparedness Level: 2

Red Flag WarningsRed Flag Warning in effect for a portion of centralWyoming.

    Weather Discussion

Two separate weather features will bring unsettledweather to much of the western U.S. today. First, anupper level trough of low pressure over the PacificNorthwest will deliver light rain and higher humidity tothat region, including the extreme northwest corner ofCalifornia, the Great Basin, and into the northern

Rockies. Meanwhile, the remnants of TropicalDepression Odile will cause flooding with significantprecipitation and embedded thunderstorms for thesouthwest U.S. and southern Plains. Sandwichedbetween these two weather systems it will be dry but alittle cooler for the rest of California today, as onshore flow develops. East of the Rockies, it will be cool anddry in the upper Midwest, with a cold front bringing strong winds to the Upper Mississippi Valley.
