OUTCOMES

The session introduced students to Exordium as the Civil Services Cell of Sri Venkateswara College and the session with Dr. Sanjeev Chopra provided insights to students about the exam preparation and strategy. The tips provided by officer trainees have been extremely useful to students. It also later on resulted into a session with

INAUGURAL CEREMONY

Exordium the Civil Services Cell of Sri Venkateswara College was founded as a Club in

March 2020 and approved by college on 6th December 2020 with a purpose to fulfil the

need of a society in our University that can guide, motivate and furnish the needs of the

aspirants, provide them with resources and work towards their personality

development. To celebrate this joyous occasion the cell organized its Inauguration on

12th January, 2021.

The ceremony witnessed a gathering of 291 aspirants on Zoom platform and a live

broadcast of the ceremony took place on YouTube simultaneously which saw a constant

number of more than 100 viewers, totalling 738 views.

The Inauguration opened with the cell President, Shivam Ganeshia introducing

Exordium to the students. He followed the history of the cell from its foundation to its

present day stand. He mentioned the true motivation behind the cell and also shared the

experiences of the volunteers with a heart touching video. This graceful moment was

followed by the cell convener, Dr. Vartika Mathur who delivered kind words for the

students of the cell and their dedication.

Our diligent volunteer, Rajdeep Pandey then introduced and welcomed our Guest of

Honour for the evening, Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, Director of LBSNAA.

Dr. Sanjeev Chopra is an IAS officer of the 1985 batch. Originally from Kapurthala,

Punjab, he has served in multiple capacities with the central and state governments in

India. He is also a primary patron and honorary consultant to a premier literary festival,

the Valley of Words International Literary Festival. He is currently the Director of the

Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Immediately prior to this, he

was the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, in charge of

Industry, Commerce and Enterprises Department and Director General of ATI, Kolkata.

Dr. Chopra addressed the gathering with the wisdom of his words, thanking everyone

for their efforts, congratulating Exordium on the works the cell has been brewing. He

talked about the UPSC exam pattern, on the importance of writing and how critical

thinking is one aspect which always clears the exam.

He introduced a panel of phenomenal IAS Officer Trainees from The Society of Social

Services, who shared their experiences and preparation strategies with the aspirants.

Ms. Pari Bishnoi, completed her graduation from DU (Indraprastha College) and

was ranked 30 in CSE-2019. She advised the aspirants to make full-fledged use of

internet for the preparation.

Mr. Ashish Agrawal is a mechanical engineer (IIT-Kanpur) and worked as a

design engineer in Japan. He talked about why self-study is more important than

coaching.

Mr. Dheeraj Singh is a MBBS doctor from BHU. He emphasized on the need of

consistency during the preparation and proper analysis of syllabus.

Mr. Navneet Sehara has completed his B. Tech from IIT-Bombay. He highlighted

the need of constant revision after completing a portion of the syllabus.

Mr. Yuvraj Seddharth has completed his B. Tech from Indraprastha University.

He stressed upon the dynamic nature of the CSE Examinations and how it is

important to be dynamic ourselves to cope up.

The team of officer trainees also talked about a website, csewiki.org that they have

designed and has ample information to help aspirants of various dimensions.

Dr. Chopra showed his sincerity towards eradication of misconceptions prevalent about

Civil Services and offered his and his team’s full support to Exordium in order to make a

pool of resources for the benefit of the student aspirants. Exordium is working tirelessly

on the collaboration in mutual understanding with Dr. Dheeraj Singh, Nodal Officer of

Society of Social Services.

The Inauguration culminated in a vote of thanks by Ananya Gupta and while guests

were allowed to leave after that, students were kept back for the first ever orientation

session of the Cell.

ORIENTATION SESSION

To familiarise the freshers with the cell’s functioning, Exordium organised an online

Orientation session after the Inauguration, which had a participation of around 250+

students overall. The aim of Orientation was to introduce students to the working and

teams of the Cell and to clear their doubts.

This session was hosted by Retika Kanaujia and Shrestha Khandelwal. They gave a

comprehensive account of the cell, elucidated the different teams and explained the

procedure on how to apply for membership and volunteership of cell.

It was followed up by a Q/A session which was hosted by Shivam Ganeshia, Mahek

Agarwal, and Yogesh Chaddha in which students cleared all their queries regarding the

smallest of issues.

Exordium would like to extend its sincere regards to Dr. Rajendra Phartyal who

provided his assistance throughout the event and without whom this inauguration

ceremony wouldn't have been possible.

The inauguration ceremony as well as the orientation proved to be massive success

coupled with a great turnout of students, a motivating and captivating speech by the

Guest of Honour and the guidance and support given by the panel of officers for further

association. Team Exordium worked very diligently to make this event a success before

vis-a-vis during both the sessions.
