The first Beirut Design Fair will be held from 20 to 24 September2017 at the BIEL (Beirut International Exhibition and LeisureCenter).

It will take place at the same time and in the same location as the8th edition of the city’s art fair which regularly attracts more than20,000 visitors.

The organisers said: “We’re sensitive to the vibrant, scintillatingquality of the Lebanese design scene. Its rightful place is withoutquestion at the forefront of the cultural landscape of the MiddleEast.

“It seems to us that this is the right time to turn the spotlight on thedriving and creative role of Lebanese design in the region.

“Lebanese designers form a real community, open to the worldwhile remaining rooted in their birthplace. Creative currents from

throughout the region converge upon this energetic and inspiringcentre, where an international flavour will mix with the richprofusion of local craft workshops.”

Last year, designMENA spoke to various design fairs in the MiddleEast and how it has influenced the development of design acrossthe region.
