Literary Term: DialogueDialogue is a conversation between or among characters in a literary work.

Dialogue is usually set off by quotation marks, and a new paragraph indicates a change of speaker.

EXAMPLE: “Do you want to go to the movies this weekend?” asked Jane.“No thanks. I have loads of homework to do,” I replied sullenly.

The words, pronunciations, and grammar of a dialect differ from those of the standard form of a language.
