The lower school, years 7 to 11, have a set uniform which consists of a royal blue school sweatshirt with the Olchfa logo, black school trousers, or skirt with the Olchfa logo and a blue and red stripy tie.

In the summer month’s pupils wear a white school polo top as it is cooler. The 6th form uniform is different to

the rest of the school.

The Olchfa 6th form student’s uniform consists of black

clothing and black shoes. It is a strict policy that every student wears the same uniform as it promotes equality within the

school.

In general, the weather in Wales does not affect a school day because there are no major natural disasters such as flooding which could prevent pupils from having access to school. However, in Wales, we sometimes experience snow in the winter months. This prevents some pupils from being able to get transport to the school. This may happen once or twice a year but apart from that there are no torrential weather conditions that disrupt a school day. Olchfa school day can be affect by the rain ,If it rains then students aren’t allowed outside for break but get released 5 minutes early from the end of break to make way to next lesson and are only allowed outside at lunch if the students are going to the canteen for food.

Picture shows Olchfa  in the snowThe weather can also affect school events like the annual school sports day where pupils take place in a wide range of sporting activities, If the event has to be cancelled due to bad weather conditions then the school will keep re-arranging it until they have suitable conditions to run the event in . This can also happen with the annual sponsored walk, the sponsored walk is an 8 mild walk to the local beach from the school and raises money for local charities, if the weather is bad on the day of the walk then it will be postponed until there is a dry day.

Is Education compulsory where you live?

In our country, education is mandatory until the 10th grade, the other two grades are optional and

each student decides whether they apply for them or not.

Do you wear uniform? Describe it.

Yes, we wear a uniform. The boy’s uniform is composed of a plain light coloured shirt, black or

grey trousers and a jacket with the school emblem attached to it, however the jacket is

optional. The girl’s uniform also includes a plain light coloured shirt without cleavage, and either black or grey trousers or medium to long length

skirt, also the jacket is optional.

Are there any extra-curricular activities in your school?

Our school organizes a lot of extra-curricular activities like sports competitions, literature

clubs, trips and many others.

Does the weather affect your school day? How?

The weather does not affect our school days, it could be pouring or the snow could be as high as

cars, we must get to school, no matter what.

What are the main causes for pupils to opt out of

education?

Even though school in our country is mandatory, many of the country side kids drop out or don’t

even start school at all due to the fact that these kids must stay home and help their parents in

agriculture related work. To these families, education isn’t that important as making a living.

We have learnt that in Romania, primary education is compulsory until the 10th grade, the other two grades are optional and each student decides whether they take them or not.

In this Romanian school, The boy’s uniform is a plain light coloured shirt, with black or grey trousers and an optional jacket with the school emblem attached to it. The girl’s uniform is a plain light coloured shirt, and either black or grey trousers or medium to long length skirt, also the optional jacket.

others.

The weather does not affect their school days, it could be pouring with rain or there could very deep snow, but they must get to school, no matter what.

Even though school in Romania is compulsory, many of the countryside kids drop out or don’t even start school at all.

This is because these children must stay home and help their parents in agriculture related work. To these families, education isn’t that important as making a living.

the age of 18 to attend regular schooling.• B) Do you wear uniform?  Describe it.• We do not wear uniforms, however we do

have a dress code.  We're not allowed to wear shirts with alcoholic logos or any type of reference to drugs.  Also, the girls are not allowed to wear mini skirts or tank tops, and hats are not allowed in the classrooms.

• C) Are there any extra-curricular activities in your school ?• Yes there are,  We have boys and girls, hockey, soccer,

are when it is snowing really hard, or the roads are too covered with snow or slippery for the busses to safely travel on.  Also we occasionally have days off because the visibility is too poor to risk sending the students on the bus route.

• E)  What are the main causes for pupils to opt out of education?

• Students mainly drop out because the are involved with drugs and alcohol, they have had a baby or they are discouraged about their education and don't feel the need to continue.
