Music City Aviators October, 2015 Meeting Minutes

October  Meeting Recap

Presiding: Tom Bible, President

Opening Remarks: Meeting called to order at 12:00 pm.

Tom welcomed and thanked everyone for coming out despite the damp, breezy weather that somewhat hampered our club Fly‐in. Everyone had just enjoyed a club provided luncheon and Tom commended the chefs.

Tom mentioned that some 3D fliers from St. Louis were at our field last week testing a prototype SR9 Stinsonand videotaping the production. Tom asked them if they could make mention of our field in the video andperhaps sponsor future events here? 

Motion made, seconded and approved to accept the club minutes report from September, 2015.

Treasurers report: Hayes Graf reported our current club fund balance to be $4,507.94 

There were no new members this month and the total number of MCA members remains at 51.

Old Business: Club elections: None of the 2015 Officer positions were challenged by new nominations. Motion made, seconded and approved for the current club officers to remain in their positions through 2016.

The Club Officers for 2016 are: Tom Bible (President) Dave Palmer (Vice‐President), Hayes Graf (Treasurer)James Harkreader (Secretary) and Kenny Skelton (Safety Officer).

David Powell reported that our frequency board and club announcement board are still works in progress andhopefully will be completed by next month.p y p y

NEW BUSINESS: The MTRCCA (Middle Tennessee R/C Clubs Association) will be hosting the Fall Swap meet November 7th at the Nashville Fairgrounds. Individual tables are $20 and payment needs to be made ASAP (before October 30th). You can register online for tables at http://mtrcca.org/Registration.html.

Event Reports: Jerry Nannie reported that 8 fliers competed in the recent S.A.M (Society of Antique Modelers)International Postal Event using the Cedar Hill flying club as their host field. The club score was 3,623 with onepilot losing his plane in a strong thermal. Tom thanked all club members who participated in this event.

October Meeting Recap

Tom reported that The Beechcraft Museum sponsored Air Academy at Tullahoma was a very rewardingexperience with 12 youngsters participating. The kids were divided into groups of 3 with each group building anHorizon Hobbies ARF kit plane and flying it afterwards. There was a guest speaker from Arnold Engineering andDevelopment Center who gave several presentations, complete with displays. Also a tour of the Beechcraftmuseum was provided for the kids and volunteers. The individual groups also started building a kit form Eagle IIplane to be completed and covered by the next years group. Tom thanked Dave Palmer and L.A. Johnston fortheir part in helping our club participate in making this event a success

Upcoming events: Our elderly flyer group (The OF's Club, who regularly meet on Wednesdays), agreed to use their informal fund to host a steak feast on 4th of November. A $5 per head steak luncheon consisting of steak, baked potato, Texas Toast, drinks, deserts and salad complete with dressings are the menu items. So far there are 12 individuals participating. Anyone wanting to be on the list for steak, please contact James Harkreader, Tom Bible, or Dave Palmer as there will be few extra steaks and...we will need much help with the procuring and preparing the meal, hopefully to be served around High Noon on the 4th.

Announcements: Jeff Bown recently toured the Boeing factory and highly recommends it to anyone visiting the Seattle Washington area.

Eric Jamborsky invites members to look at RC items he has for sale prior to the November swap meet. He canbe reached at (615) 594‐4077.

Closing Remarks: Tom thanked Walter Everett for his donation of a full scale replica propeller to be mounted above the door of the clubhouse.

Next Meeting: Scheduled for 6pm at Ryans Steakhouse, 2151 Gallatin Pike N. Madison, TN. on the 17th of November, 2015. Each person will be responsible for payment of their own meal.
