Suzanne: I never thought I’d ever be a model, since my lifestyle is really contradictory. But it was my destiny I guess, and a lot of people saw potential in me. In the throes of Beauty

Sultry beauty Suzanne Roque realized soon enough that she had a natural gift of beauty and grace. Her photos ooze playfulness and poise. Behind that suave façade is a sweet and homely girl, who loves the simple life and is not amused by the false lure of glamour or money. Hear what Suzanne had to say about the fashion world and its vicissitudes.

TYP: How’d you enter modeling, and what was your journey like as a novice model?

Suzanne: I never thought I’d ever be a model, since my lifestyle is really contradictory. But it was my destiny I guess, and a lot of people saw potential in me. I started getting calls for shoots and fashion shows, and that’s where it all began. I was 19 when I did my first shoot. It was a nice experience, come to think of it. But along the way one has to face a lot of hardship. I had no choice but to endure it. Being patient really helped me get through.

TYP: Why did you choose modeling as a profession? Was it the glamour that attracted your attention?

Suzanne: I believe in myself and I love fashion and dressing trendy. I have a photogenic face and I give a fresh look to every picture. If you’re good at something, anything is possible, and my boyfriend Hemanth supports me a lot. He’s the man behind my success

TYP: How do you keep yourself looking so fit? DO you follow a strict fitness regimen or diet?

Suzanne: Honestly, I’ve never been to a gym or worked out in my entire life. I eat a lot and I eat anything I feel like, so I’m not on a diet either. I guess I’ve just been blessed with this . .

TYP: How’s your experience in modeling been so far? What were the highlights of that journey?

Suzanne: I’ve mostly done a lot of print modeling. I was the face of Bangalore fashion week (first edition). I’ve worked for L’Oreal, Femina, Pinecask, etc. I’ve worked with photographers from Los Angeles, Dubai, Frankfurt, etc. So the ride so far has been really eventful and fun. I can’t really pin point a single piece of work as the highlight, since I just have fun working, and all shoots are pretty much different and exciting.

TYP: What has been your most memorable moment so far?

Suzanne: A lot actually, but being the Face of Bangalore Fashion week was awesome. It always feels great when you’re in the limelight.

TYP: How do you perceive your future in fashion?

Suzanne: I believe I’ve walked quite a distance. It’s kind of hard to make a break in this industry, so I don’t have big dreams. I take one day at a time, and keep it simple.

TYP: What advice do you want to give youngsters who want to pursue this profession?

Suzanne: This industry is testing and difficult, so be grounded, keep your head on your shoulders and try not to take a wayward road. Dream, dream, dream, and do anything to keep that dream alive. Most of all, be patient and strategic.
