The pre-opening of the cen- ter, housed in the former First United Presbyterian Church, building was sponsored by the Mayor's Committee on Recre- ation for the Elderly. Mayor Frank A. Sedita will of- ficially open the center at 7 p.m. on June 22. A dance for elderly persons will follow the opening. Actually, the center, under the supervision of Mrs. Lucile M. Kinne, has been offering a lim- ited program for two weeks. It is open five days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for any- one in the city 60 years of age and over. Staff of Three There are no dues. The cost of the center is underwritten by the city, with matching funds supplied by the state. It is staffed by three persons under the direction of Mrs. Kinne. "Our purpose," she said, "is to alleviate loneliness, encour- age older people to keep active, present opportunities for serv- ice, and provide mental stimula- tion and opportunities for self- expression." To accomplish these aims, the center plans a full pro- gram of activities, including dancing, various handcrafts, creative writing, health class- es, music and public speaking. And there'll even be time for friendly chats. Yesterday three visitors, Mrs. Albert Upson of 48 Lawrence PL; Mrs. Margaret Halloran, 1101 Seneca St., and Mrs. Winifred Duncan, 532 Grant St., visited around the punch bowl. Aged Get Preview of Day Center A preview of pleasant things

to come was given Buffalo's elderly residents yesterday at the city's first area-wide Day Center for Senior Citizens at Summer and Richmond.

The pre-opening of the center, housed in the former First United Presbyterian Church, building was sponsored by the Mayor's Committee on Recreation for the Elderly. Mayor Frank A. Sedita will of

ficially open the center at 7 p.m. on June 22. A dance for elderly persons will follow the opening.

Actually, the center, under the supervision of Mrs. Lucile M. Kinne, has been offering a limited program for two weeks. It is open five days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for anyone in the city 60 years of age and over. Staff of Three

There are no dues. The cost of the center is underwritten by the city, with matching funds supplied by the state. It is staffed by three persons under the direction of Mrs. Kinne.

"Our purpose," she said, "is to alleviate loneliness, encourage older people to keep active, present opportunities for service, and provide mental stimulation and opportunities for self-expression."

To accomplish these aims, the center plans a full program of activities, including dancing, various handcrafts, creative writing, health classes, music and public speaking.

Songs Around Piano

In a corner of the large ballroom, which is marked for shuf-fleboard courts, Elmer Rahl of 105 JLafayette Ave. played the piano, while his wife and
