In this workshop, the presenter will review changes in the diagnosis of psychopathology from the DSM‐IV to the DSM‐5. In addi on to focusing on concrete differences in diagnos c criteria, the presenter will highlight empirical evidence for these changes and will review research sugges ng the need for more drama c changes on how psychopathology is organized and diagnosed in future edi ons of the manual. The seminar will accomplish the following objec ves: Describe the proposed differences
between DSM-IV and DSM-5.
Describe empirical evidence for changes in the DSM-5.
Describe empirical evidence for more dramatic changes to psychodiagnosis that can be anticipated in future editions of DSM-5.

Presenter Biography: Christopher J. Hopwood, Ph.D. is an as-
sistant professor of clinical psychology at
Michigan State University and licensed
clinical psychologist in the state of Michi-
gan. He received his Ph.D. from Texas
A&M University and completed his clinical
internship at Massachusetts General Hos-
pital/Harvard Medical School. He has
been active in research related to the clas-
sification of psychopathology for several
years, and is currently an Associate Editor
of the Journal of Personality Disorders
and the Journal of Personality Assess-
ment.
