MTAC #90 Purpose and Goals
Workgroup PurposeStudy the feasibility and benefits of including college and university student change of addresses in the National Change of Address database.
Workgroup GoalImprove efficiency for schools, mailers, and USPS in the handling and forwarding of UAA student mail.

Feasibility Study Only Must be beneficial to BOTH parties
Applicable to on-campus student housing facilities only
Off-campus housing is handled by local post office
May also be usable with military/govt. addresses
This is NOT about forwarding of student mail

UAA/fowardable mail is perpetuated

Forwarding of Student Mail is Inefficientfor the School, the USPS, AND the Mailer Mail sorted/new address applied by school and then given to USPS for processing
“Old addressed” mail keeps on coming
Non-forwardable mail is discarded

Including Student COA in NCOA Database can: Save The Mailer … by providing updated student addresses
prior to mailing
Save the USPS … by improved processing, decreasing the amount of forwardable mail, and collecting postage due where
necessary
