The EC project MEREDIAN

Mediterranean-European Rapid Earthquake Data Information and Archiving Network

Start date: November 1, 2000

MEREDIAN consortium: 18 members

End date: April 30, 2005

Goal: Initialize real-time waveform data exchange in Europeand make previously inaccessible data available to the research community, developing a distributed archive

WP1: Improving and securing data archivalWP2: Improving rapid cross border data exchangeWP3: Developing a distributed European seismological archive WP4: Seismological software co-ordination

Results

- Rapid, automated data collection for the ODC

- Rapid data accessibility for end users

- Short-term (30 days) continuous data

- Potential for a significant increase waveform data collected

- VEBSN produces automatic event bulletins

- Stimulate data exchange within the EuroMed community
