ABOUT USWe are a spin-off from the BEIA project which was implemented by
the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation
(CREEC) based at Makerere University in 2011. We produce TLUD
gasifier stoves that employ the process of pyrolysis to cleanly burn
dry biomass fuels and make charcoal as a byproduct that can be
used for further cooking or sold off.
Awamu is a Luganda word with means Together.
TARGET MARKETWe target 500,000 households in rural and peri-urban communities
of Uganda that use firewood for cooking.
VALUE PROPOSITIONAwamu Stoves cook faster than traditional 3-stone stoves, are 90%
smokeless, save time and make charcoal for households thereby
reducing exposure to indoor emissions, reducing firewood
collection and allowing for more productive time.
