SEE PAGE 2 OF THIS NEWSLETTER IMPORTANT REHABILITATION & TRAINING PROGRAM
TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR POSTURE, FLEXIBILITY, STRENGTH AND OVERALL GOLF GAME THIS SEASON!!
IMPROVE YOUR GOLF GAME WITH REGULAR REGISTERED MASSAGE & SPORTS INJURY THERAPY
Golf, like many other sports requires both PHYSICAL & MENTAL Conditioning. Whether you are a casual Golfer or a competitive Professional Golfer, including Massage and Sports Injury Therapy into your program can benefit you by decreasing injury, pain and improving your overall golf game! The most important areas of focus for Golfers are 1) Thoracic Spine i.e. the middle segment of your spine, 2) Rotator Cuff and 3) Core Strength. Typically our activities of daily living and workplace environments predisposition us to poor postures and muscular imbalances. It is through conscious correction of our posture, repetition and strength training that we can change these bad habits and restore proper function.

CORRECT YOUR POSTURE: *Similar to individuals that sit at a desk all day, Golfers tend to have a head forward posture and rounding within their upper back region. This will lead to both shoulder & neck injuries, as well as a reduction in overall Thoracic Spine Movement.
TYPES OF MASSAGE THERAPY & ASSOCIATED BENEFITS Registered Massage Therapy will utilize many different techniques to restore
function, improve range of motion and decrease pain. The following are Treatment strategies used by our Therapists, specific to improving your Golf Game:
1. SWEEDISH MASSAGE- Involves more superficial treatment. This will increase circulation and flush out metabolic wastes that can build up in the muscle(s) due to overuse and repetitive motions (i.e. golf swing). Also, it will relax the body helping to reduce stress, anxiety and improve overall mental focus. 2. DEEP TISSUE- Involves a deeper treatment into affected muscles groups, realigning
muscle fibres and breaking up associated adhesion that reduce function. This will elongate
muscles, decreases muscles spasms and restores proper range of motion, improving
overall Power & Performance!
3. TRIGGER POINT THERAPY- Treatment consists of direct pressure on specific
points within a muscle group, which may have 1) LOCAL pain or 2) REFERRED pain.
Pressure will reduce muscle tension, pain and restore proper muscle contraction and
motion. This will also lead to increase in Power & Performance.
4. MYOFASCIAL RELEASE- Release of superficial connective tissue that runs Head-
Toe, increasing overall range of motion within joints and muscles and decreasing pain.
5. SPORTS SPECIFIC TREATMENT- Incorporates a series of stretching and Joint
Mobilization techniques to improve function and minimize pain. Used most often at
on-site tournaments or Games as part of a Golfer’s Warm-up.

JUNE NEWSLETTER Issue #34 2
TRUE MENTALITY INC. FUNCTIONAL TRAINING & BOOT CAMP FACILITY
REHABILITATION & TRAINING FOR YOUR BEST GOLF SEASON
Poor postures, similar to those described on page 1 of this newsletter can have a significant impact on the ability of your shoulder and spine to move freely. Additional muscles are recruited in order to stabilize the body during motion, which can lead to muscular impingements, tendonitis and chronic pain. These adaptation over time place undue pressure on the spinal column, soft tissue and joints, leading to further inconsistencies in your game mechanics and injury. Below are some strategies to use to prevent Golf related injuries, improve your overall flexibility and reduce pain. For more information please ask our Trained Professionals at Body Movement Therapeutics & TRUE MENTALITY Inc., we are open 6 days a week with evening and weekend availabilities (519)853-1200.
