Important information regarding the 2018 All-State String Audition Materials
Our 2018 All-State Music Festival orchestra director is Jason Weinberger, Pauline Barrett Artistic Director and Conductor of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony.

1) The tempos within the excerpts should all be observed. Please note the tempo details on the next page.
2) The bowings within the excerpts should all be observed.
3) Students may use fingerings that work best for them.
4) Play the top line for all divisi sections.
5) Play both notes for any double stops not marked divisi.
6) Sul G parts must be played on the G String.
7) 8va must be played an octave higher.
8) Multiple rests of 4 do not need to be counted out.
9) We have worked to produce accurate excerpts. However, if any corrections to the excerpts need to be made, corrections will be posted on the IHSMA web site. Please check the web site periodically. The link to the web site is www.ihsma.org

Instructions from All-State Orchestra conductor Jason Weinberger: An American in Paris Quarter note for the main tempo = 112-116; throughout the entire opening to 42 and also the closing from before 69 to the end the tempo will stay on one side or other of this basic beat (with the exception of the slower, freer spots 19-20, 23-25, 28-29, 40-4 after 40, 42-45, 76-77)
