Import Duty Tax Look Up How it works: To use the Import Duty Tax Look Up, the tariff code of the import must be known. If this is not the case, click Button 1 to use our Tariff Code Look Up Tool. Click on Button 2 to open the Tariff Book. Press ‘Control F’ on your computer keyboard. A search box will appear on your screen. Type the first four digits of your tariff code (the heading) into the search box and click enter. This will navigate you to the right area in the Tariff Book. Scroll down until you have found a match to your tariff code. If the 7th and 8th digits of your tariff code are .00, only the first 6 digits (subheading) will be listed in the Tariff Book. The Rate of Duty columns show duties applicable to your tariff code according to Schedule 1 Part 1 of the Customs Act. General duties are charged where no preferential rate or certificate of origin is applicable to an import. Learn more about certificates of origin by clicking here.
