Implication of multiculturism (social class)

1. Teachers should treat all the students equally.Treat each student equally, give them a chance to take responsibility for their own learning, express themselves, and learn at their own pace. (Ozerol, 2012)JUDGE CONTROLx2. It is important to work together in a groupHaving students teach each other is an extremely effective way to increase student learning (teaching someone else leads to their own improved understanding of the material). (Garfield, 1993)

3. Students should not simply show off for their classmates

What the schools should do?Have more access on the learning materials. Increase the number of books in library.(Include readings from a wide variety of class perspective) What the teacher should do?1. Work to diminish the gaps in the class-Look to develop social capitalEg: open discussion & cooperative learning

2. Give equal learning opportunities (avoid discrimination)The high & mid achiever students are normally come from mid & high-SES.Teacher give more focus to them rather than to the students in the back class.

(social capital=the networks of relationships among people who live and work in a particular society, enabling that society to function effectively)

Social awareness: understanding the needs and feelings of others. (Munro, OBrien, & Payton 2006)

* Ability to see from others perspectives

By about age three, early friendships begin to form and childrens peers begin to have a more lasting influence. (Parke, 1990)

Harris (1998, 2002) and Rowe (1994) maintained that peer groups have an even stronger influence than that of parents.

peer group can influence what the child values, knows, wears, eats and learns.
