The work samples I have provided for my second Impact on Student Learning are two

pages of student research, and a Glog, which demonstrates my teaching of technology. Student

teaching at Thomasboro Grade School was very beneficial in the amount of technology and

resources that are available to the students of that school. This year, they received the Enhancing

Education Though Technology Grant (EETT), which meant that each classroom is equipped with

a SMARTBoard and either Smart Response Clickers (K-2) or individual netbooks for all

students (3-8). Additionally, the grant required a technology project to be completed by each

grade level. My cooperating teacher and I thought about many possible options for this project,

and my ample knowledge about technology led us to making Glogs on glogster.com,demonstrating student knowledge about different types of penguins, which at the time was our

    science unit.

The before work samples were the question sheets that were given to each pair or group

of students. They were assigned to different penguin types based on the seating arrangement in

the classroom, which were also their group names throughout the science unit. The group I

selected was the Emperor Penguin group. The question sheets were the beginning stages of the

projects. For about 2 weeks, I spent 30-40 minutes per day in our classroom on the

SMARTBoard explaining how to locate and access information safely and effectively on the

internet about their topics (I used cheetahs as an example), also how to find and cite pictures and

information. After students learned this process, I taught them how to use and navigate

glogster.com. After the two week period, we went into the computer labs were the groups were

asked to first locate the information on their question sheets and then design their Glogs. The

Glogs were to include the information they researched, pictures, and also videos of them stating

1-2 facts about their penguins. This was designed as a performance assessment for the entire
