Message From Joe
Trivia: In July of this year Mat came to Kingspan as a Plant Manager. Mat was born in Leicestershire, England. Since it’s the holiday season, he loves to BBQ for his wife and daughters. Interestingly enough, Mat is a drummer for a band, Those Handsome Hooligans (like them on Facebook!). As for his vacation, his favorite spots are Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica, Croatia and Italy. Education: Degree in Polymer Science (’93) from Burton-on-Trent Technical College (UK) Work: He started with BTR Automotive Sealing Systems as a Trainee Technician and ad-vanced to Senior Engineer of New Product Development– including the James Bond Car, Aston Martin DB7, Jaguar XJ8, and others. He jumped the Atlantic ocean, moving with Magna International for a plant setup in Toronto (‘99) where he became Plant Manager of two locations. Why Kingspan? Mat saw an opportunity with Kingspan where he could use his operational experience to help grow a company that has vast potential within North America. His goal is to see Kingspan North America transform into a world-class manufacturing organization, producing great products, with best-in-class quality, at a great price.

Associates from our Columbus Plant experienced a delightful day at the Columbus Zoo on October 6. Both associates and families alike fellow-shipped under a rented pavilion with a delicious catered meal. Damon Reece, Production Manager at Columbus stated, “I would say that the zoo day was a great family day for the associates who work at Kingspan, Columbus. It was very enjoyable and it was great to meet the families of the associates.”
We had several events that occurred this quarter including the Daytona Beach
Sales Conference, a day at the Columbus Zoo, and the Deland Chamber of
Commerce Luncheon.
Social Events this Quarter Dear Colleagues, Over the last few weeks we held a poster competition to raise awareness for our Net Zero Energy program. NZE is the Kingspan initiative to reduce the energy con-sumption in our factories and transition from fossil generated energy to green en-ergy. We all help manufacture environmentally friendly products and, it’s im-portant we follow the same policies. I was really pleased with the number of quality entries. We have some creative employees and families here (unfortunately I don’t fall in that category, but it was a pleasure helping judge the entries)! The following are the plant winners, each receiving a $100 gift card: Anthony Russell (Columbus), Savannah King (Modesto), Amelia Aspinall (Langley), Jessica Morris (Caledon), Jasmine Coy (Deland) These five plant winners entered in the divisional competition. I am pleased to announce the grand prize winner is Amelia Aspinall receiving a $500 gift card. All entries will be hung in their respective plants. We will display duplicate of each winning poster display in all our plants. Join me in thanking all the entrants and best of luck to everyone next time, Andrew Hamer, VP of Operations

The Deland Chamber of Com-merce hosted a luncheon in Octo-ber on “The Real Business of Clean Energy.” Several of our associates were able to attend the event where Fergal Murphy, VP of Sales & Business Development, presented on Net Zero Energy. “It was great to see Kingspan en-gaged in the local community. We had the opportunity to introduce our company and educate others on our plans to achieve Net Zero Energy consumption for our facili-ties by 2020,” says Kelly Courtheyn, Marketing Coordinator. This year’s Fall Sales Meeting was held at Daytona Beach, FL. Our Business Development Mangers, Regional Sales Managers, and Mar-keting staff attended the three-day conference. “The sales meeting in Daytona Beach started off with a great loca-tion…The meetings were a bal-anced blend of commercial team updates, educational sessions, and team building exercises,” says Keith Spurlin, one of our Business Devel-opment Managers. Super-storm Sandy did affect some of our associate’s ability to
travel from the Northeast for the meeting. Despite the storm up north, we had a lovely Luau on the beach and a fabulous time together (photograph above). Kevin Maguire one of our Region-al Sales Manager still found the meeting “very encouraging.” "The fall sales meetings in Dayto-na Beach Shores were very positive, informative, and efficient. It was also great to see everyone in one place to catch up socially," says James Ruckman, Regional Sales Manager.
