Associated Vincentian Charities of Brooklyn Gives Back
Immaculate Heart of Mary should share in the profits. For each car, truck or van, running or not the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul will give back to our church $75/$200 per vehicle. Maybe you don’t have a vehi-
cle, but a family member, friend or neighbor has an old or neglected vehicle in their driveway that they would
like to dispose of. Call the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul at: 718-491-2525. Thank You!
Dear Parishioners, This pandemic does not look like it is over. This current wave of the delta variant that the country is currently facing is very scary and everyday we hear the number of cases are increasing. With the delta variant so much in the news, Bishop DiMarzio is asking that we all be attentive to Covid-19 safeguards as we gather inside our Churches for worship. Please be reminded of the following: • Whereas unvaccinated individuals continue to be responsible for wearing masks in accordance
with the Federal Center for Disease Control guidance, everyone is encouraged to continue to wear masks to protect each other and especially for the protection of children not able to be vac-cinated as of yet or individuals unable to be vaccinated for other health reasons.
• Individuals who are unvaccinated should continue to maintain social distancing. • It is highly recommended and appreciated if the faithful would receive Communion only in the
extended hand and not on the tongue. • There will continue to be no physical exchange of the sign of peace; Communion from the chal-
ice will not resume right now; baptismal fonts and holy water stoups will remain empty. • Our worship space continues to be sanitized two times per week. We hope and pray that all parishioners will feel safe within the Church as we all work toward the life we knew before these unfortunate circumstances befell us. Let’s be safe and keep praying for an end to this pandemic. May God bless you and your families abundantly. Fr. Gill

Opportunities to Help & Volunteer
“When I was hungry, you gave me to eat.” ( Mt. 25)
Our pantry is in need of non-perishable items such as: cereals, peanut butter, jelly, canned
vegetables, fruits, and soups, tuna fish, crackers, non-refrigerated milk (ex. Parmalat), etc.
Our Parish pledged to #WalkwithFrancis—donating
to the Food Pantry is a good way to walk.
Are You Aware?
It has been our experience at times that
some people may feel they are not able
to receive Communion due to divorce
or other personal issues. Often times,
there may be a misunderstanding
regarding Church Teaching in these matters. You are
encouraged to see Fr. Gill, Deacons Jim, John or Tony for
clarity so that you do not miss the opportunity to celebrate
the healing presence of Jesus in the Sacrament of
Reconciliation and in turn come to the Table of the Lord.

FAITH BOOK
21st Sunday Ordinary Time (B) August 22, 2021
Joshua 24:1-2a, 15-17, 18b; Psalm 34; Ephesians 5:21-32; John 6:60-69
From the Book of Joshua:
Joshua addressed all the people, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
Reflection:
Isn’t Joshua’s testimony what parents at today’s Eucharist are trying to make and set as an example for their children? They hope, when their children become adults they, like their parents before them, will say, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
So, we ask ourselves: • How did my own parents encourage or hinder my
life of faith? • What kind of example of faith am I in my family? ~Preacher Exchange, Jude Siciliano, OP
Exposition and Adoration
of the
Blessed Sacrament
has returned to IHM on
each Friday of the month.
On the First Friday of each month we will have
exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the end of
the 8:45 am Mass with Benediction following at
10:00 am.
On all other Fridays of the month with the
second Friday dedicated to Adoration for Life, the
Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for
adoration and private prayer from 8:00 am
until 8:30 am.
We are united in prayer for
the needs of the entire world and especially
for an end to the pandemic.
Assisting God’s People to End Abortion
The following prayer booklets are available to assist
with your daily prayers to end abortion: In the Palm of His Hand: Prayers to End Abortion,
equips God’s people to pray for the unborn in a variety
of circumstances and special times of year. In the Heart of His Mercy: Prayers to Heal the
Wounds of Abortion, asks for God’s mercy and heal-
ing for many groups of people who are wounded by
each abortion. In the Light of His Word: Biblically Based Prayers
to End Abortion, written specifically for the pro-life
movement, takes key themes in God’s Word as a
launching point for interceding for our brothers and
sisters in the womb.

2021 Annual Catholic Appeal Prayer
God and Father of all gifts, we praise you, the
source of all who we are. Teach us to
acknowledge always with generous gratitude the
many good things your infinite love has given
us, as together we support the work of the
Church in Brooklyn and Queens.
Open our hearts that we may answer your call to
follow the message of the Gospel as disciples in
love and service, so that all may come to know
You by the example of our
faith and good works.
We ask this through our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever. Amen.
