PARISHIONER PASSING

I don’t thin a weekend goes by that I do not hear comments as these: “Oh I knew so and so, wow I wished I had known they passed away, or I worked with him or her or went to school with that person”. I would like to begin an email list of parishioners that would like to know when funerals are sched-uled. If you send your email address to [email protected], and under subject put “Going home to the Lord”, I will add your email to those that get notified as funerals are scheduled here at the rectory.

The Pilot subscription envelopes are available next to our bulletin board in the vestibule. ________________________________________________

ST. FRANCIS HOUSE SHOES/SOCKS

We will continue to collect new and/or slightly used shoes for the St. Francis House. Please leave them in the vestibule as you enter the Church. New socks for both women and men are welcome also. Thank you and many blessings. _________________________________________________

MIDWEEK REFRESHER

READ: John 2: 1-12 REFLECT: Jesus was invited to a wedding in Cana with his mother and his disciples. there he would perform the first of his signs. The evangelist reports this sign so that we may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, so that through our faith, we may have life in his name. Fruit of the vine and work of human hands, wine is the wedding drink par excellence. Wine in such abundance was for Israel a symbol of the messianic age that was to come. Here it is poured forth at a wedding feast which calls to mind that the strongest image of God's relationship to humanity is that of espousal. The ancient tradition of the Eastern Church celebrated in the Solemnity of the Epiphany three manifestations of Christ's glo-ry: the revelation to the magi, the baptism in the Jor-dan and the wedding feast at Cana. The selection of this reading for this Sunday after Epiphany and the Baptism of the Lord preserves this tradition. PRAY: Pray for the manifestation of Jesus in your life. ACT: Be Jesus for someone else this week and manifest, show forth, his mercy.
