The QLD Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) course for retail and hospitality covers the two nationally competency titles – > Follow Workplace Hygiene procedures (SITXOHS002A)

> Implement Food Safety procedures (SITXFSA001A)

The QLD Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) course for aged care and child care covers the three nationally competency titles – > Follow basic food safety practice (HLTFS207C)

> Oversee the day-to-day implementation of food safety in the workplace (HLTFS309C)

> Apply and monitor food safety requirements (HLTFS310B)

The Food Safety Supervisor course prepares you with an extensive understanding of the role a food safety supervisor must play within the workplace. We ensure you have all the required skills and knowledge to implement and manage a food safety program from identifying hazards to corrective actions, critical control points to operational policies and procedures.

The business’ Food Safety Supervisor is a person who: > knows how to recognise, prevent, and alleviate the hazards associated

with food handling at your premises > has the ability and authority to supervise other people handling food at

your premises and ensure that food handling is performed safely

This one day course covers the following units:> Food contamination > Store food safely> Maintain a clean environment > Prepare food safely> Causes of food poisoning > HACCP> Personal hygiene > Pest control> ANZFA guide to food safety > Implementing acts and regulations

ENTRY REqUIREMENTSStudents must have an industry contact, as a third party report must be completed as an assessment item. This could include a head chef, sous chef, owner, manager, or colleague. Students must possess good written and spoken English skills.

Completion – Students have four weeks (28 days) from enrolment to complete the workbook.


This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in retail operations and/ or supervision with the need to apply discretion and judgement. Work would be undertaken in various retail store settings, such as speciality stores, supermarkets, department stores, and retail fast food outlets. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide or hold specific coordination or support responsibilities within a store team.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway. Students may articulate directly from the Certificate III in Retail to the Certificate IV in Retail Management.*
