聯合國指出，全球氣候暖化速度加快，然而，人類的活動是主因。

美國國立海洋與大氣管理局 (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) 宣稱，美國自 1900 年以來， 1999 年氣溫是第二高 溫，

僅次於 1998 年。 1999 年平均溫度為 55.7 ℉ ，而 1998 年為 56.4 ℉ 。自本世紀以來，即有長年高溫趨勢，且以 70 年代為最。過 去
