The meeting of the survivors of theConfederate and Federal armies rcsidIns in Palatka and vicinity which wasannounced in the last Issue of THETIHESHEHALD met Monday evening-
In the Council Chamber Capt M ICoxe was selected to preside duringho preliminary organisation of the
meeting In taking the chair thestated that years ago an attempt
had been made by the old soldiers q
Palatka to organize an old soldiersassociation but from some cause theeffort had not proved a success andthat he understood the object of thepresent meeting was to complete theold organization or effect a new one
Dr W H Cyrus at this time ap-
peared In the chamber and gave ashort account of the old organizationand suggested that the present meet-
Ing proceed to organize a new associa-
tion to bo known as PalatkaVeteran Association whoso objectshould be purely of a memorial char-
acter That when requested by thefrlhnds of deceased comrades of eitherarmy they should attend os a guard ofhonor
This suggestion met favorableapproval and on motion the meetingelected the following officers
