    1. IntroductionThis paper is like honey, a very rare nutritious food which has heavenly taste and a

best known health accelerator. Similarly it is very rare to mix fun and human valueswith the learning process of engineering subjects. Such a rare effort is made in the

following sections to strengthen the man making philosophy. The examples given

here are related to electronics and computers however this technique can be used tovarious other branches or streams of education.

    2. Introduction to technofunSmile is that mantra by chanting which one can lighten their hearts, free their

minds, and improve their health. So smile is divine. We will experience aninexpressible fascination when we learn scientific concepts and difficult

phenomenas with a smile on our face. The goal of technofun is to combine fun with

    technological assimilation.

    3. Technofun(TF)Technofun is one among those incredible learning methods which have a an

amazing caliber to make study joyful and helps us to understand the most

complex concepts in a very simple way

    4. Technofun teachingsThere are plenty of methods to add fun into technology. As an example, few

selected samples of technofun teachings are given below:-

    EX 1:-Fouriers song

This song explains the entire concept of Fourier transforms its properties and

    application.

Lyrics by Dr. Time and Brother Fre(quency)

"Because we love Fourier Transforms, and we know you will too..."

    Properties of the Fourier Transform

    (or, Fourier's Song)

Integrate your function times a complex exponential

It's really not so hard you can do it with your pencilAnd when you're done with this calculation

You've got a brand new function - the Fourier Transformation

What a prism does to sunlight, what the ear does to sound

Fourier does to signals, it's the coolest trick around

Now filtering is easy, you don't need to convolve

All you do is multiply in order to solve.

From time into frequency - from frequency to time

Every operation in the time domainHas a Fourier analog - that's what I claim

Think of a delay, a simple shift in time

It becomes a phase rotation - now that's truly sublime!

And to differentiate, here's a simple trick

Just multiply by J omega, ain't that slick?

Integration is the inverse, what you gonna do?

Divide instead of multiply - you can do it too.

From time into frequency - from frequency to time

Let's do some examples... consider a sine

It's mapped to a delta, in frequency - not time

Now take that same delta as a function of time

Mapped into frequency - of course - it's a sine!

Sine x on x is handy, let's call it a sinc.

Its Fourier Transform is simpler than you think.

You get a pulse that's shaped just like a top hat...

Squeeze the pulse thin, and the sinc grows fat.

Or make the pulse wide, and the sinc grows dense,The uncertainty principle is just common sense.

    EX 2:- smile OHM

Saints and seers have tremendous resistance towards worldly pleasures because they

always chant ohm ohm which is the unit of resistance (sms)

    Metaphor :

Memory system and corporate system have comparable hierarchy of their respective

positions. Here analogy is made only with respect to speed, cost, and size. Registers aresimilar to directors of a company as their number is less, they are very talented and they

work with great speed and cost per bit is high (salary). Similarly others are

associated/linked in the same way with respect to speed, size and number. As a company

cannot run only with high performance directors similarly a memory system cannot only

include registers as the total cost becomes very high.

    5. Introduction to TechnoadhyatmaMost of the Indian technical institutions have transformed into an industry producing

engineers to cater the needs or to satisfy the demands of multinational companies. This was the keynote address delivered by our former president of India Dr.A.P.J Abdul

Kalam at some technical institution. These powerful chains of words effortlessly remove

the layer of the flower spread over the inability on our part to realize the responsibility of

being a citizen of India or in higher sense our ignorance to human values. We want that education by which character is formed, strength of the mind is increased,

the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on ones own feet. Says swami

Vivekananda. It is indeed doubtless that there should be a small orientation by technical

institutions towards spirituality. The question is how to teach noble grand ideas andhuman values to engineering students whose eyes are fixed on the western countries and

understands only one language that is technical language. Sections below make anendeavor to solve this problem in an innovative way.

    6. Possible reasons behind the lack of human touchIn satyuga the aim of mankind was bhakti, in tretayuga it was on dharma, in

dwaparayuga mankinds aim was kshatriyaahood and in kaliyuga mans important aim isto make money. Lust, anger, fame, greed etc are the tough competitors for the money but

money manages to hold its place at the top by making humanity its slave.

Following points try to provide few possible reasons behind the lack of human touch1. rich peoples have become the ideal human beings for the society

    2. excessive influence of the western countries

    3. media exposing sugar coated cheap heroism to teenagers4. absence of sense of being citizen of India.etc

    7. Technoadhyatma(TA)Technoadhyatma is a combination of two words viz technology and adhyatma, both are

pure sciences, one is the science of the matter and other is the science of the non material

aspect of human beings. Technoadhyatma is a one among such methodologies which tries

to balance these to sciences for socio-economic development of the nation.Technoadhyatma is an innovative method of teaching technology to engineering

students. Its a general law that people understand best if they are taught in accordance totheir thinking mindsets. So this simple method involves expounding the spiritual aspects

of the technology. As referred before most of the engineers understand only technical

language hence technoadhyatma acts like a compiler (translator) which translates spiritualsciences into technical sciences. The training that we need to undergo to use this

tehnoadhyatmic tool is to have proper practical knowledge of these two profound

    sciences.

    8. Technoadhyatma teachingsThe teachings of TA can be broadly classified into two types they are named as1. ApplyTA

    2. AnalyseTA

    1. ApplyTA

Most of the time the problems faced by machines are more or less similar to the day to

day life problems or bottlenecks. Thinking in this sense applyTA deals with extracting

those teachings from technologies which improved machines and using the same

teachings to improve ourselves. Below are the few examples to demonstrate the usage ofapplyTA. First concept is explained and then it is transformed into teachings.

If a transistor is driven hard, the storage time which is proportional to the base current

increases and the switching speed is reduced. The storage time can be reduced byoperating the transistor in soft saturation rather than hard saturation. This can beaccomplished by clamping CE voltage to a pre-determined level and the collector current

    is given byCC CM

    TA teaching:

A man is said to be efficient if he has the capacity to switch from one mind state to

another state instantaneously. As the electronic device which has less switching time has

immense value and applications similarly a man with less switching time has greatimportance in this world. On this earth a single man plays varieties of roles, he/she may

be father/mother, student, son/daughter, citizen, employee etc. so he/she has a bigresponsibility to balance all these roles then only their can be peace in family ,office andultimately in the world. The secret to manage variety of duties is to not to get attached to

any single duty or work excessively. How is this possible? The answer lies in the above

explained technology. Transistors switching time is more if it is driven into hardsaturation. This problem can be solved by driving it into soft saturation rather than hard

saturation similarly we have to drive ourselves to soft saturation(less attached) in order to

improve the efficiency of our life. Let me cite a small analogy provided by Sri

Ramakrishna. be like a nurse who takes care of the childrens in rich peoples house. Shelooks after the childrens as if they were her own childrens (high performance) but at the

bottom of her heart she knows that childrens were not her own (soft saturation). If for

some reason she had to leave her job, she joins another job taking care of some otherchildrens without much pain or struggle(less switching time) and deliver high

performance. It means we should be like a lotus in the water. We should not get attached

completely to any duty at the same time we should deliver high performance to all ourworks. Another suitable analogy is that of the Maglev (magnetic levitation) train where

wheels of the train are just above the tracks .i.e. it is neither attached nor detached. If

wheels touch the track then friction arises and efficiency drastically decreases so we cansay that the distance between attachment and detachment is the distance between maglev

    train wheels and its track.

    EX.2:- ULTIMATE FORMULAES

The foremost aim of physical science is predict behavior of matter accurately. It became

cumbersome to analyze some complex systems output for different types of inputs basedon theories and laws. To rescue us from this limitation, formulas appeared before the

screen. Formulaes representing the actual physical behavior of nature is one of the

greatest milestones in the physical science. It helped to visualize intricate behavior ofnature and make many unimaginable theories and laws of nature for example e=mc^2

    TA teaching

Most of the times in our life we fail to interpret the various happenings of day to day life

correctly. It sometimes becomes difficult to our mind to understand the situations andtake appropriate decisions. To use our beliefs or our own theories of life to interpret the

situations in many times is difficult. So we need a set of simple formulaes which helps

us to live a clear and doubt free life and perform appropriate actions which give bestresults. These set of formulaes which contains dos and donts in a simple language istermed as shaastras. Shaastras are always aimed at the welfare of society and people.

Some of the fascinating shaastra formulaes are listed below

    1. Truth = strength

This is one the important formula to distinguish between truthfulness and falsity. Here

strength has very broad meaning apart from our limited physical strength.

    2. Expansion = life; contraction = death

Freedom, broadness, struggle are all the signs of life whereas narrow mindedness selfcenteredness, selfishness are the signs of death

    3. Action + unselfishness = true action

True action is defined as the action performed without any selfish motives

    4. Man self control = animal

Animals are slaves of their genetic constitution only man has the power to go beyond

genetic constitution and exercise self control.

    5.

Trifle makes perfection but perfection is not trifle. We have to take care of all small

things, if we are aiming for some great achievements.

    2. AnalyseTA

This is another type of TA where the machines analysis is in simile with life analysis.

    Following examples justify above statement.

EX.1. DIODE CHARACTERISTICS (JOURNEY TO SUCCESS)

  • 8/14/2019 IITHE-Indian institute of technology for human excellence

    12/16

Diode is forward biased when anode is made positive with respect to the cathode. Diode

conducts fully when the diode voltage is more than the cut-in voltage (0.7 V for Si).

Conducting diode will have a small voltage drop across it.

Diode is reverse biased when cathode is made positive with respect to anode. Whenreverse biased, a small reverse current known as leakage current flows. This leakage

current increases with increase in magnitude of reverse voltage until avalanche voltage isreached (breakdown voltage).

  • 8/14/2019 IITHE-Indian institute of technology for human excellence

    14/16

TA teaching:The journeys of success or failure trace the same trajectory as that of the general purposediodes forward and reverse bias VI characteristics. Where current (I) signifies

achievement and voltage (V) signifies dedicated work. If we start working from null

work for few days we rarely see any considerable achievement. Each dedicated working persons achievements starts manifesting only if his single hearted work crosses the

threshold of unselfish work rendered. Similar to that of built in voltage concept. It is

interesting to note that every person has their own threshold level similar to havingdifferent cut in voltages for different semiconductor devices. Before reaching threshold

work we can see that the void depletion region of ignorance becomes thinner and thinner

and vanishes away as soon as ignorance is destroyed completely and then we can see

success manifesting. Once the person has done required sufficient hard work, hisachievements increases rapidly by performing just small dedicated work in the positive

direction. Achievement starts increasing in exponential term. In the same sense if we

work in the negative direction performing anti-social activities the depletion region of

ignorance expands, we may see achievement in a short period but we end up withirreversible destructive breakdown. So diode demonstrates the journey of success and

failure and allows us to study the various stages of winning and losing.

    EX.2.Really logical gates

  • 8/14/2019 IITHE-Indian institute of technology for human excellence

    15/16

AND gate: In this modern era the friendship between eastern and western countries has

to play an important role in achieving worlds peace and prosperity. East should know

from west how to live outside the house and west must learn from east how to live insidethe house. So development cannot be achieved through either east or west alone, both

have their own wonderful roles to reach completeness. Hence AND gate is used to signify

that only if west and east both are active than only completeness can be realized.

OR gate: The various ways which lead towards the total evolution of human beings are

scientifically classified into 4 paths. They are karma yoga (the yoga of action), jnana

yoga (the yoga of pure knowledge), bhakti yoga (the yoga of devotion, pure love), rajayoga (the yoga of self discipline and mind control). It is interesting to know that all of

these paths lead to the same goal. Any one path or all or combinations of the paths can be

chosen to reach supreme goal. This property is in accordance with OR gate.

One of the best ever technoadhyatma teaching given by swami Vivekananda

Duty is seldom sweet. It is only when love greases itswheels that it runs smoothly; it is a continuous frictionotherwise. How else could parents do their duties to theirchildren, husbands to their wives, and vice versa? Do we notmeet with cases of friction everyday in our lives? Duty issweet only through love, and love shines in freedom alone.

Karma Yoga. New York, 1895. Complete Works, 1: 67

    9. BenefitsFollowing are the benefits of technofun and technoadhyatma:-

1.These two powerful tools acts like a memory boosters as they use the principle of

association and linking which is one of the best methods of improving memory.

  • 8/14/2019 IITHE-Indian institute of technology for human excellence

    16/16

    2. These tools help us to effortlessly analyze and understand even the most complex

    technical concepts.

    3. They change the way we read the engineering subjects and induce tremendous interestand enthusiasm among students.

    4. They teach us noble and moral lessons which have a power to bring marvelous

developments in the society.5. Lastly they make us to laugh and enjoy the study.

    10. ConclusionThus these tools can be effectively used to accelerate the present learning process and

give incredible socio-economic-spiritual upliftment. The institutions where these tools are

used can be termed as Indian institute of technology for human excellence (IITHE) where

technology is used to realize the best potential excellence hidden in each and everyindividual.
