IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

FOR YOUR SAFETY

• For Personal Safety, remove house fuseor open circuit breaker before beginninginstallation. Failure to do so could resultin serious injury or death.

• Be sure your cooktop is installed properlyby a qualified installer or service technician.

• To eliminate the risk of burns or fire due

to reaching over heated surface elements,cabinet storage located above the surfaceunits should be avoided. If cabinet storagespace is to be provided, the risk can bereduced by installing a range hood thatprojects horizontally a minimum of 5"beyond the bottom of the cabinets. Cabinetinstallation above the cooktop may be nodeeper than 13".

• Make sure the cabinets and wall coveringsaround the cooktop can withstand thetemperatures (up to 200°F) generatedby the cooktop.

• The cooktop should be easy to reach andlighted with natural light during the day.

• Always disconnect the electrical service tothe cooktop before repairing or servicingthe cooktop. This can be done bydisconnecting the fuse or circuit breaker.Failure to do this could result in adangerous or fatal shock. Know where yourmain disconnect switch is located. If you donot know, have your electrician show you.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS

This appliance must be supplied with theproper voltage and frequency, and connectedto an individual, properly grounded branchcircuit, protected by a circuit breaker or atime delay fuse as noted on rating plate.

We recommend you have the electrical wiringand hookup of your cooktop connected by aqualified electrician. After installation, havethe electrician show you where your maincooktop disconnect is located.

Wiring must conform to National ElectricalCode. You can get a copy of the NationalElectrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70--LatestEdition, by writing:

The cooktop conduit wiring is approved forcopper wire connection only, and if you havealuminum house wiring, you must usespecial UL approved connectors for joiningcopper to aluminum.

You must use a two-wire, three conductor208/240 VAC, 60 Hertz electrical system.A white (neutral) wire is not needed for thisunit. The cooktop must be installed in acircuit that does not exceed 125 VAC nominal

to ground.

Refer to the rating plate on your cooktop forthe KW rating for your cooktop.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS:

The bare ground wire in the conduit isconnected to the cooktop frame. EffectiveJanuary 1, 1996, the National Electrical Codewill not permit grounding through neutral.If used in new construction after January 1,1996 or in a mobile home, recreationalvehicle or if local codes do not permitgrounding through the neutral white lead,attach the appliance grounding lead (greenor copper) to the residence groundingconductor (green or bare copper) inaccordance with local codes. Whenconnecting to a 3 conductor branch circuit,if local codes permit, connect the bareground connector lead of the cooktop to thebranch circuit neutral (gray or white in color).

IMPORTANT: if the cooktop is beinginstalled into a blind counter (one with nocabinet opening below), wire connectionsmust be made before putting the cooktopinto the cutout opening.

PARA SU SEGURIDAD

INSTRUCClONES PARA HACER TIERRA:

El alambre pelado para hacer tierra en elconductor se conecta al marco de la cubiertapara cocinar. A partir del lro de enero de1996, el Codigo Electrico Nacional no sepermitira la conexion a tierra a trav_s delneutro. Si se usa en construcciones nuevas

despues del lro de enero de 1996 o en unacasa movil, vehiculo de recreacion o si loscbdigos locales no permiten la conexion atierra a traves del alambre neutro blanco,una el alambre de conexion a tierra delaparato (verde o cobre) al conductor deconexibn a tierra de la residencia (verde ocobre descubierto) de acuerdo con loscbdigos locales. Cuando se conecta a larama de un circuito de 3 conductores, silos codigos locales Io permiten, conecte lapunta del alambre pelado para hacer tierraal neutral (de color gris o blanco) de la ramadel circuito.

IMPORTANTE: Si la cubierta paracocinar se esta instalando dentro de ungabinete ciego (uno que no tiene unaabertura abajo), las conexiones de losalambres se deben hacer antes de colocar lacubierta para cocinar dentro de la aberturadel corte.
