Given the importance of strengthening economic dialogue between the Arab countries and China on different global issues to reach a unified coordinated position and expand the existing cooperation, it was agreed since 14/9/2004 to establish «the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum» as a common platform for dialogue and cooperation on equal basis and mutual benefits. This is necessary to exploit the existing resources of both parties and expand their cooperation at various levels and in all areas, and to reach a new level of equal partnership and comprehensive cooperation relations.

The Arab-Chinese Business Conference is a significant mechanism to engage the private sector and to develop the Arab-Chinese cooperation in trade, investment, scientific and technological fields, energy, agriculture, environmental protection and other areas.

Hence, the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum has adopted the Conference and Investment Seminar as a significant mechanism for promoting business and investment relations between the Arab and Chinese private sectors.

This Conference is a biannual event, which is held alternatively in China and the Arab countries. It is organized by the League of Arab States, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce, the Govern-ment of the Arab host country (represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy and Trade), and the Federation of the Chambers of the host country, in collaboration with the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries, the Chinese Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and the Federation of Arab Businessmen.

Previous EventsACBC-2015 has held five sessions, namely:1. The 1st session was held in Beijing, China, during 12-13/4/2005.2. The 2nd session was held in Amman, Jordan, during 18-20/6/2007.3. The 3rd session was held in Hangzhou, China, during 21-22/4/2009.4. The 4th session was held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, during 18-19/1/2012.5. The 5th session was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, during 9-12/10/2013.6. This sixth session will be held in Beirut during 26-27 May 2015, under the theme: «Building the Economic Belt of the Silk Road».

Background

ObjectivesACBC-2015 aims to discuss the following key topics:• Promoting the Arab-Chinese trade partnership for «the Belt and the Silk Road».• Promoting Stronger Arab-Chinese investment cooperation.• Presenting the opportunities and investment climate in Lebanon and Arab Countries.• Organizing bilateral meetings between Arab and Chinese businessmen in the following sectors: trade, industry, agriculture and food security, banking, tourism, renewable energy, infrastructure, and transportation (railways, roads, ports, aviation, telecommunications and electricity).
