Test Taker Login Test takers will begin with the test login page, which can be accessed at


1. Enter a Group Code

Group codes will be provided to your school’s test administrator by Diglossia. It can be helpful to write this group code on the board so that all the students in the group can see it and enter it in correctly. Don’t forget to change the group code for the next testing group.

2. Enter student ID number

If you are concerned that the test takers’ actual student ID numbers are too long for them to remember, or enter correctly, you may assign each student a shorter unique ID# for use with the TALA test, but this ID# must be at least 4 digits long (e.g., 1001, 1002, etc.) and it will be your responsibility to maintain your own records linking this Student ID# to the test taker’s actual student ID# in your Student Information System.

3. Enter full name and click on the Next button.

اختبار المفردات ١. اضغط على زر ابدأ االختبار لكي یبدأ اختبار المفردات

في وضع ملء الشاشة. مالحظة: ال یظھر ھذا الزر عند إجراء االختبار على االي باد.

٢. یضغط الممتحن على نعم أو ال لإلجابة عن كل سؤال. ترسل اإلجابات فوریا ویظھر السؤال الموالي.

٣. عندما ینتھي اختبار المفردات، سیبدأ اختبار القراءة مباشرة.


Vocabulary Test 1. Click on the Start button to launch the vocabulary test in full screen mode. Note: This button does not appear when taking the test on the iPad.

2. The test taker simply clicks on the Yes or No button to answer each question. The answer is automatically submitted and the next question appears.

نموذج اختبار إلجراء نموذج اختبار قصیر، اتبع اإلرشادات أعاله

لتسجیل الدخول الى اختبار طلع باستعمال كود المجموعة Sample1 ، و أي رقم ھویة عشوائي

للطالب، واسمك.


Reading Test 1. The reading passage appears on the right side of the page, with the question on the left.

2. Select an answer by clicking on a phrase or sentence in the reading passage. When an answer option has been selected, it will be highlighted in yellow. To select a different answer, simply click on another phrase or sentence in the passage.

3. Click on the green arrow button to submit the selected answer and advance to the next question.

4. When the last question has been answered, examinees will see a message indicating that they have completed the test.

Sample Test To take a short sample Vocabulary and Reading test, follow the directions above to log into the TALA test using the Group Code Sample1, any random Student ID Number, and your name.

لوحة تحكم المراقب تتیح لوحة تحكم المراقب للمشرفین واإلداریین

عرض نتائج االختبار لكل كود مجموعة (مجموعة من الممتحنین) مخول لھم الوصول

إلیھا. یمكن تتبع درجات اختبار المفردات والقراءة في الوقت الحقیقي، بینما یمكن االطالع

على درجات الكتابة بعد ارسالھا من طرف المقیمین المسؤولین عن تقییم المواضیع الكتابیة.

تسمح لوحة تحكم المراقب أیضا بطباعة حزمة اختبار الكتابة لكل طالب أكمل اختبارات

المفردات والقراءة.

تسجیل دخول المراقب یمكن الدخول الى لوحة تحكم المراقب على

الرابط http://tala.diglossia.net/proctor

سیزودك المسؤول عن االختبار باسم المستخدم وكلمة المرور الخاصة بك. بعد تسجیل دخولك،

یمكنك تغییر كلمة المرور عن طریق اختیار Settings من القائمة المنسدلة في الزاویة

الیمنى العلیا من نافذة المتصفح.


PROCTOR DASHBOARD

The Proctor Dashboard allows proctors and administrators to view the test results for each Group Code (group of test takers) to which they have been given access. Vocabulary and Reading scores can be monitored in real time, while Writing scores can be viewed once they have been submitted by the human raters who are responsible for scoring the written essays.

The Proctor Dashboard also allows the proctor to print a Writing packet for each student that has completed the Vocabulary and Reading tests.

Proctor Login The Proctor Dashboard can be accessed at

http://tala.diglossia.net/proctor

Your User Name and Password will be given to you by your test administrator. After you’ve logged in, you can personalize your password by selecting Settings from the drop down menu in the upper right corner of the browser window.

Click on any Group Code in your group codes list to access the Proctor Dashboard for the group of test takers who used that Group Code.

From the Proctor Dashboard window you can:

1. View real time test results for each test taker in the testing group.

2. Export an Excel spreadsheet report showing the current results for each test taker in the testing group.

3. Print a Writing test packet for each test taker who has completed the Vocabulary and Reading tests.

4. To print a Writing test packet, click on the checkbox in the Needs Printing column next to the names of the test takers whose Writing packets you want to print.

مالحظة: إذا كنت تقوم بعرض نتائج اختبار الممتحنین أثناء اجرائھم لالختبار، یمكنك تحدیث

النتائج عن طریق تحدیث نافذة المتصفح.

اختبار طلع للكتابة مالحظة: یجرى اختبار الكتابة بعد اختبار المفردات/

القراءة. یمكن أن تجریھ في الیوم الموالي أو الى غایة شھر بعد اختبار المفردات/القراءة.

اختبار الكتابة یكتب بخط الید. ال تحتاج الى مختبر حاسب آلي إلدارة االختبار. یكتب التالمیذ اجوبتھم

على الورقة. ال یحد االختبار بمدة زمنیة، لكن یستغرق تقریبا 45 دقیقة.

عملیة االختبار ھناك ثالث مواضیع كتابیة لكل تلمیذ على ثالث أوراق منفصلة. سیطبع مسبقا مسؤول االختبار مواضیع الكتابة (ثالث صفحات للتلمیذ) وذلك

بالضغط على زر Print Checked الذي سیظھر بعدما ینھي التلمیذ قسم المفردات/القراءة.

وزع مواضیع الكتابة على التالمیذ، سیكون على كل صفحة اسم التلمیذ، رقم الھویة للتلمیذ، وكود

المجموعة مطبوع مسبقا على الصفحة.


TALA WRITING TEST Note: the Writing test is administered AFTER the Reading/Vocabulary test. You can administer it the following day or up to one month after the Reading/Vocabulary test.

The Writing test is paper and pencil. You do not need a computer lab to administer the test. The students will write their responses on paper. The test is not timed, but generally takes approximately 45 minutes.

Test Process Each student has three writing prompts on three separate sheets of paper. The test administrator will print out the writing prompts in advance (three pages per student) by clicking on the Print Checked button that will appear after students complete the Vocabulary/Reading section.

Distribute the writing prompts to the students. Each page will have the student name, student ID number, and group code pre-printed on the pages.

Note: If you are viewing the test results while test takers are still taking the test, you can update the results by refreshing the browser window.

الشحن. تحتسب درجات اختبار الكتابة من قبل مقیمین ناطقین باللغة العربیة مدربین ومؤھلین.

At the bottom of each page, there is a rubric for each student’s grade level. Read the rubric to the students and review it with them. You can see an example of the rubrics for grades 3, 6 and 8 on the following page.

After the tests are complete, mail the completed tests to the address below. We recommend that you make a copy of all the pages before mailing the originals to Diglossia, in case they get lost during shipping. The tests will be graded by trained and certified native Arabic speakers. Results will be available within 2-4 weeks.

مراجعة عملیة ما قبل اختبار طلع

قبل أیام من بدء اختبار طلع، نوصي المراقبین بشدة على قضاء بعض الوقت في مراجعة عملیة

االختبار مع التلمیذ لیتعود علیھ وذلك بتتبع الخطوات أسفلھ.

١. أعرض الفیدیو التعلیمي طلع لكل الفصل، مما یتیح للتالمیذ فرصة لطرح أي سؤال قد یكون

لدیھم.

٢. أدر اختبارا تجریبیا في المفردات والقراءة للطالب (أنظر أعاله).

٣. راجع صفحة نموذج تقییم الكتابة مع التالمیذ بحیث یصبح ما ھو متوقع من اختبار الكتابة وما

سیقیمون علیھ واضحا لدیھم.

٤. إذا أردت ذلك، یمكن أن تمنح اختبارا تجریبیا لموضوع كتابة (تجد أسفلھ نموذجا للصف

الثالث، السادس والثامن).


TALA PRE-TEST REVIEW PROCESS

Several days before administering the TALA test, we strongly recommend that proctors spend some time reviewing the test process to familiarize the student with the test by following the steps below.

1. Show the TALA tutorial video to the entire class, giving students an opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

2. Have the students take the Vocabulary and Reading practice test (see above).

3. Review the Writing Rubrics page with the students so they are very clear on the expectations of the writing test and will know what they are being graded on.

4. If you like, you can have the students try a sample writing prompt (samples for grades 3 and 6 and 8 can be found below).
